Okay, so, I’ve been digging into this new game, Zenless Zone Zero. It’s by the same folks who made Genshin Impact, so you know it’s got that polished feel. This time, it’s more of an urban fantasy thing, with a city called New Eridu that’s like the last safe spot after some big disaster called the “Hollows”. You team up with a bunch of wild characters to fight your way through. Sounds cool, right?
First off, I jumped on the HoYoLAB, that’s the forum for all their games. The game was not out yet, so I signed up for the closed beta. Kept an eye out for any news. Then, boom, they dropped the release date – July 4th, 2024. But guess what? Depending on where you are, you might get to start playing on July 3rd. Nice!
I made sure to mark my calendar and started the pre-download on July 2nd. No way I was gonna miss out when it finally launched. The game is available for IOS, Android, PC, and even PS5. How awesome is that!
Now, onto the gameplay. The combat’s pretty slick, and one thing I wanted to figure out was how these assists work. There are these Perfect Assists, Defensive Assists, and Evasive Assists. Sounds complicated, but it’s not too bad once you get the hang of it.
So, I started playing, just mashing buttons and trying to stay alive. Then I noticed something. When an enemy starts to glow with this golden light, almost like a cross shape, that’s your cue for a Perfect Assist. I saw the Switch icon pop up, and instinctively, I pressed it. Bam! My other character jumped in and did this awesome attack. It felt so good to pull it off.
Then I discovered these things called Assist Points. You get them after doing Chain Attacks. These points are super important because they let you do Defensive or Evasive Assists. I experimented a bit and figured out that if you’re in a tight spot, you can use these points to quickly get out of trouble or have a teammate shield you. I had to use them to practice.
Here’s the breakdown:
- Perfect Assists: Watch for that golden cross glow on enemies, then hit the Switch icon.
- Defensive/Evasive Assists: Build up Assist Points with Chain Attacks, then use them when you need to dodge or defend.
Honestly, it took me a few rounds to really get the timing down, but once I did, the combat felt so much more fluid. Being able to seamlessly switch between characters and pull off these assists just makes the whole experience way more dynamic. I was having a blast chaining attacks and dodging like a pro. I’m definitely gonna keep playing and see what other tricks I can learn in Zenless Zone Zero!
