Well, I reckon if you’ve been watchin’ WWE like I have, you’d know that they’ve been makin’ some big changes lately. A whole bunch of wrestlers got the boot this year, and it’s been the talk of the town. Seems like WWE’s been doin’ some serious housecleanin’ with their roster, and not just the newcomers, but even the big names we’ve been watchin’ for years. Just like that, they’re lettin’ go of people, and I’m not sure how many folks are gonna be left after all this. Ain’t no one safe, not even the ones we thought were untouchable!
Now, in May 2024, WWE decided to release a whole bunch of Superstars, and I gotta say, it’s a bit of a surprise. Some of these names you might know, like Drew Gulak and Gable Steveson. But there were others too, like Boa, Darrell Mason, Emma Maria Diaz, and Ezekiel Balogun, to name a few. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen ‘em wrestle, but I reckon not all of ‘em made the same impact as some of the bigger names. Still, it’s a real shame, especially when you consider how hard these folks worked to get where they were.
But that ain’t the end of it. There were some more big names on the list, too. Former United States Champion Baron Corbin, NXT Women’s Champion Indi Hartwell, and Tegan Nox were also given the boot. Now, I don’t know about you, but I always thought Corbin had more fight in him, and Indi Hartwell had a real strong run. Tegan Nox? Well, she had some real potential, but it seems like that wasn’t enough to keep her on the roster. They say Corbin found out his contract wouldn’t be renewed, while Indi and Tegan just got straight-up released. It’s tough, I tell ya.
WWE’s Changes and Cuts: What’s Happening?
This whole situation with WWE’s cuts isn’t somethin’ new. I’ve been watchin’ them do this for years. Every now and then, they’ll cut a whole bunch of people, and it’s never pretty. And with the merger between WWE and UFC, I reckon things are just gettin’ more chaotic. The company’s always gotta look at how it’s spendin’ its money, and sometimes, it’s the wrestlers who pay the price. Just like when they let go of big names like Dolph Ziggler, Lacey Evans, Matt Riddle, and Mustafa Ali back in September 2023. It’s a tough business, that’s for sure.
It’s like a cycle, right? Every year, WWE gets rid of some of its talent. It’s a regular part of the business, and it don’t matter if you’ve been there for a long time or if you just signed on. They’ve gotta make room for new folks and make sure the company keeps runnin’ smooth. But still, it don’t make it any easier on the fans or the wrestlers themselves.
Who’s Been Let Go in 2024?
- Drew Gulak
- Gable Steveson
- Boa
- Darrell Mason
- Emma Maria Diaz
- Ezekiel Balogun
- Julian Baldi
- Keyshawn Leflore
- Kiyah Saint
- Trey Bearhill
- Valentina Feroz
- Vlad Pavlenko
These are just a few of the names that were released in the May 2024 cuts. And it don’t stop there. Every time WWE releases wrestlers, people are left wonderin’ who’s next. You never really know who’s gonna go. It could be someone you thought would stick around forever, and then, just like that, they’re gone. It’s like that with every company, I suppose. Money talks, and it’s all about what’s best for business. So, WWE gotta do what they gotta do to stay on top.
WWE and UFC: The Merger’s Impact on Talent Cuts
I reckon this whole mess with the releases has something to do with that merger between WWE and UFC. Now, I ain’t no expert, but it seems to me like the two big companies are tryin’ to figure out how to run things more efficiently. When companies merge, there’s always gonna be some cutbacks. WWE’s gotta trim the fat, so to speak. And it ain’t just the wrestlers, either. They’ve been lettin’ go of other folks too, like managers, announcers, and producers. If you’re not bringin’ in the numbers, you’re out.
Looking Ahead: What’s Next for WWE?
So, what’s next for WWE after all these cuts? Well, I reckon they’ll keep on goin’. It’s a big business, and they’ve got more talent than you can shake a stick at. They’ll keep bringin’ in new faces, maybe from NXT or other places, and keep shufflin’ the deck. But I gotta say, it’s always a bit sad to see familiar faces go. Some of these folks we watched for years, and now, they’re just gone, like a flash in the pan. But that’s the nature of the business. You win some, you lose some.
It’s hard to say what’ll happen next, but I reckon we’ll keep seein’ these changes in the future. And as long as WWE’s around, they’ll keep puttin’ on the shows, and we’ll keep watchin’. Whether you’re a fan of the new talent or the old-timers, there’s always somethin’ to look forward to.
