Okay, so I’ve been messing around with my putting lately, and I saw Rickie Fowler’s putter and thought, “Why not give that a shot?” I’m no pro, but I like to tinker with my gear, just like the big guys. So, here’s how my little experiment went.

Getting Started
First, I needed to find a putter similar to Rickie’s. I did a bit of digging, looking at pictures and descriptions, trying to figure out the key features. It looked like a pretty standard blade putter, but with a longer hosel.
The Build
I’ve got a few old putters lying around, so I decided to use one of those as the base. I picked one that had a similar head shape. The real challenge was the hosel. I grabbed some extra shafts and, I’m not gonna lie, it involved a bit of trial and error. It took a few tries, a bit of bending, and a lot of eyeballing, but I finally managed to get a hosel that looked about right – longer than usual, just like Rickie’s.
Testing It Out
With the putter assembled, it was time to hit the practice green. Honestly, the first few putts felt weird. The longer hosel changed the balance and the way the putter swung. I spent a good hour just getting used to the feel. I started with short putts, focusing on keeping the face square. Then, I moved on to longer putts, trying to get a feel for the distance control.
- First Impression: Definitely different. Not bad, just different.
- Adjustment Period: It took some time to get the hang of it.
- Feel: The balance was the biggest change.
The Results (So Far)
I’ve played a couple of rounds with my “Rickie Fowler” putter, and it is not perfect, but I’m slowly getting there. My distance control has been surprisingly good. I’m still working on those short, tricky putts, but overall, I’m not hating it.
It’s been a fun little project, and it’s taught me a bit more about how putter design affects performance. Will I stick with it? Maybe. Will I keep tinkering? Definitely.
