Alright, let me tell you what happened the other day. I was finally tackling the mess in the spare room closet. You know how it gets, just stuff piled up over the years. Anyway, I was pulling out old boxes, mostly junk, honestly.

Then I got to this one storage bin tucked way in the back. Pulled it out, dust everywhere. Started digging through it – old papers, some weird knick-knacks I don’t even remember buying. And then, bam. I saw that familiar maize and blue color.
Finding a Piece of History
Pulled it out. It was my old michigan denard robinson jersey. Number 16, of course. Man, seeing that thing brought back a flood of memories. Watching him play, the absolute electricity he brought to the game. “Shoelace” himself. It felt like ages ago.
The jersey wasn’t in perfect shape, obviously. It’s been crammed in a box for who knows how long.
- A little faded on the shoulders.
- The numbers were slightly cracked from being folded.
- Definitely smelled like, well, like it lived in a box for a decade.
Cleaning It Up
But I couldn’t just toss it back in. No way. This was Denard Robinson! So, I decided to give it some TLC. First thing, took it straight to the laundry room.
Didn’t want to just chuck it in the machine, figured that might wreck it completely. So, I did the whole gentle cycle thing. Cold water, low spin, mild soap. Hung it up to air dry, didn’t dare put it in the dryer.
Took a good day to dry properly. Checked it over. Hey, not bad! The smell was gone, and it looked a lot brighter. The cracks on the numbers are still there, but that’s character, right? Shows it’s got history.
The Result
So now, instead of being buried in a closet, it’s actually hanging up. Looks pretty good, considering. It’s funny how finding something like an old jersey can totally derail your cleaning plans but also bring back some really good feelings. It’s just a piece of fabric, but yeah, it means something. Good old number 16.
