Getting into the McGregor Vibe – My Gear Experience
Alright, so I got this bug a while back, watching some Conor McGregor highlights. You know how it is, the walk, the talk, the whole package. Got me thinking, maybe I should spice up my own workout routine. Wasn’t planning on stepping into any octagon, mind you, just wanted to get some of that energy. So, I started looking into the kind of gear associated with him.

First thing I went looking for was gloves. Seemed like the most obvious piece. I checked out what he wore in fights, noticed the brands change over time. Some of that official stuff, especially the specific fight night gear, looked expensive or just wasn’t easy to grab for a regular dude like me. I wasn’t trying to get exact replicas, just something with a similar feel or style.
The Glove Hunt
So, I dug around online, looked at different boxing and MMA gloves. Found a few pairs that kinda had that flashy look, maybe not exact copies, but they had that vibe. Went for a pair of 12oz boxing gloves first, something decent for bag work. Didn’t break the bank, but they weren’t the cheapest either. When they arrived, they felt pretty solid. Good padding, nice wrist support.
Next Up: Shorts
Then I thought about shorts. McGregor always had those unique, often custom-looking shorts. Again, finding exact replicas was tricky or pricey. I looked for MMA-style shorts, the ones with the stretchy panel in the crotch and the side slits for kicking, even though my kicking is probably terrible. Found a pair with a slightly loud design, reminded me a bit of his style. Material felt light, which I figured would be good for moving around.
Putting It To The Test
Okay, so I had the gear. Time to actually use it. Took the gloves and shorts to the gym.
- Gloves: Started hitting the heavy bag. The gloves felt good. Snug fit, protected my knuckles well enough. Didn’t suddenly give me McGregor’s power, obviously, but they were comfortable and did the job. No complaints there. Felt a bit more into the boxing part of my workout.
- Shorts: The shorts were definitely lightweight and flexible. Did some shadow boxing, moved around, tried some knee raises. They didn’t restrict movement at all, which was great. Felt cooler than my usual workout shorts. Plus, gotta admit, the flashier style was kinda fun.
So, What’s the Verdict?
Did wearing this gear turn me into ‘The Notorious’? Absolutely not. Let’s be real. But, you know what? It was fun. It added a bit of extra motivation to my workouts. Sometimes just feeling the part helps you push a little harder, even if it’s just in your head.

The gear itself, the stuff I picked out, was decent quality for what I paid. The gloves are holding up well after several sessions, and the shorts are comfortable. It wasn’t really about getting his exact gear, more about capturing a bit of that confidence and style he projects and channeling it into my own routine.
End of the day, it was a simple experiment. Found some gear inspired by a fighter, tried it out, and it added a little something extra to my gym time. Nothing magical, just a practical way to mix things up a bit. If you’re thinking about it, just find something that feels right for you and your budget, don’t need the exact same stuff to catch a bit of that vibe.
