Well, I had my weekend kind of planned out, you know? The big thing I was looking forward to was catching the PGA Championship. I’m not a massive golf nut, but these big tournaments, they just have a certain vibe. I like having it on in the background, seeing the pressure build up.

So, Saturday rolls around. I got myself set up. Cleared off the coffee table, which is always a minor victory in my house. Got my snacks sorted – nothing fancy, just some chips and a cold drink. Flipped on the TV, ready to settle in for a few hours. I even made sure my phone was charged so I could follow the scores online if I had to step away.
Then, not long after I started watching, the news ticker popped up. Play suspended. First, it was just a possibility, talk about bad weather moving in. Then, confirmation. Everything stopped. You see the players walking off, the crowds shuffling. It’s always a bit anticlimactic, isn’t it? You gear yourself up, and then… nothing.
A Change of Plans
Honestly, my first thought was, “Ugh, really?” A bit frustrating. I’d carved out this time. But then, you know, what can you do? Complaining doesn’t change the weather over there. So, I figured I had to switch gears. It kind of forced my hand, really. Instead of watching golf, I ended up:
- Finally tackling that squeaky door hinge that’s been driving me nuts for weeks. Got the oil out, made a bit of a mess, but hey, silence is golden.
- Calling my sister. We hadn’t properly chatted in a while, so that was actually pretty good. Just caught up on family stuff, the usual back-and-forth.
- Sorting through a pile of mail that had been accumulating. Mostly junk, but found one important bill I’d almost missed. Good thing I did that.
It wasn’t exactly thrilling, but it was productive, I guess. It reminded me that sometimes these interruptions, these ‘suspensions’ in your own little plans, end up pushing you to do the things you’ve been putting off. You just gotta roll with it. Still, I hope they get back to playing soon. I want to see how it finishes!
