Okay, so I saw this thing online the other day, and it was all about that WWE dude, Vince McMahon, crying. Yeah, the big wrestling guy. It got me thinking, and I had to dig into it. Here’s how I got into this whole mess.
First off, I stumbled upon this short clip on Twitter. It was Vince McMahon, the WWE co-founder, just bawling his eyes out in the middle of an interview. I was like, “What the heck is going on here?” This was some days back, maybe around October 28, 2023, or something. Anyway, this clip was blowing up everywhere, becoming this huge “crying guy meme.” You couldn’t escape it, seriously. It was all over TikTok, Twitter, you name it.
So, I got curious. I started to search for where this whole thing started. Turns out, it was from this episode of “Undertaker: The Last Ride” that aired way back on May 17, 2020. I watched the episode, and yeah, there it was. Vince, getting all emotional. I guess it was a pretty big deal for wrestling fans, but it didn’t really blow up until recently.
Then, I dug a bit deeper and saw some news from January 25, 2024. Some former WWE employee, Janel Grant, filed a lawsuit against WWE, Vince, and some other bigwig, John Laurinaitis. It was some heavy stuff, alleging some serious misconduct. I’m not gonna get into all that, but it definitely added another layer to this whole Vince situation.
After that, I looked into some history of WWE. Did you know they used to be called WWF? Yeah, they had to change it because of some legal tussle with the World Wide Fund for Nature back in 2000. Vince even talked about it, saying it wasn’t a good thing but they had no choice.
And get this, I found out that even though WWE is now part of this big company called TKO, thanks to Endeavor, Vince still owns a chunk of it. Like, nearly 5% as of September 2024. Crazy, right?
- Vince had this tight relationship with Andre the Giant. But later, Vince said Andre felt used, which, from what I gather, was kinda true. Andre wanted to retire before WrestleMania 3, but Vince convinced him to stick around and pass the torch to Hulk Hogan, despite his health issues.
Here’s a bit more I found:
So, yeah, that’s my deep dive into the Vince McMahon crying meme. From a random viral clip to lawsuits and wrestling history, it was quite the journey. I just had to share what I found because it was way more than just a meme, you know?
