This teil henley, you see, it’s a thing now. Like a shirt, but not quite. My old man, he just wore plain old shirts. But these young folks, they got all sorts of fancy names for things.
What’s a henley shirt? It’s like a t-shirt, you know, the kind you pull over your head. But this one, it’s got buttons. Two, three, maybe four buttons going down the front. Not all the way down like a regular shirt, just a little ways. Makes it look a little different, I guess. Some folks say it is dressier, but I don’t know. A shirt is a shirt, right?
They got ’em with long sleeves, short sleeves. Some are thick, some are thin. Some made of that waffle stuff, you know, like them blankets grandma used to make. This henley shirt, it ain’t just for one kind of weather. You can wear it when it’s cold, you can wear it when it’s a bit warm. Just depends on the shirt, I reckon.

They say it’s a “rock star vibe”. Whatever that means. I guess it makes you look like one of them singers on the TV. All loud and with the guitars. My grandson, he likes that kind of thing. He’d probably wear one of these henley shirts. He’s got broader shoulders, likes his shirts a bit loose, you know, boxy, they call it.
How’s it supposed to fit? Well, comfortable, I reckon. Not too tight around the neck. You don’t want it choking you. And the buttons, you can button ’em up, or leave ’em open. It’s up to you. Whatever you like, that’s the way to wear it. No right or wrong way, just like eating your supper.

It’s a plain-looking thing, this henley. But folks like it. They say it’s stylish. I don’t know about all that. But it’s comfortable, that’s what matters. And it’s not too fancy. You can wear it anywhere, I reckon. To the market, to church, even to visit the neighbors.

These new shirts, they are like a new type of t-shirt that is popular now. They’re okay, I guess. They seem to be real popular now. Just another shirt if you ask me.
