Oh, you’re wonderin’ about T.J. Hockenson’s 40-yard dash time, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, that boy from Iowa sure knows how to run. Back at the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine, that big fella ran a 4.70-second 40-yard dash. Now, some folks might think that’s not all that fast, but trust me, he’s got more in his legs than you’d expect just from that time.
Now, don’t go thinkin’ just ’cause his 40 time ain’t the fastest, he ain’t quick on the field. You see, T.J.’s the kinda guy who plays a lot faster than that 4.70 shows. You watch him on the field, and he moves like the wind, especially when he’s stretchin’ the defense down the middle. Kinda like Kittle, y’know? They’re both big, strong, and can get open real fast, even if they don’t always look the fastest on paper. He’s got them springy legs, like a grasshopper, and when he jumps, it’s like he’s floatin’ through the air!
But don’t be fooled, that boy’s got some serious hands too. Ain’t no weak catches from him. When that ball’s in the air, he’s gonna snatch it out like a hawk takin’ a chicken. His hands are strong, and he knows how to fight for the ball, even when there’s a defender hangin’ on him.
Oh, and just so ya know, Hockenson’s been through a bit of a rough patch with injuries. Back in December 2023, he hurt his MCL and ACL tendons. That was a tough time for him, but he’s worked real hard to get back to playin’. They didn’t rush him back into it, but now, he’s back on the field, doin’ what he does best.
In case you didn’t know, Hockenson’s now with the Minnesota Vikings, playin’ tight end. He stands tall, 6 foot 5, and weighs around 251 pounds. That boy’s a big one, and that size helps him block and catch passes all day long. He may not be breakin’ records with his 40 time, but when it comes to makin’ plays, he’s as reliable as they come.
Now, you might be hearin’ a lot of names like Xavier Worthy these days, runnin’ crazy fast 40-yard dashes, but don’t you forget about Hockenson. While folks may be impressed with someone runnin’ a 4.21-second dash, you can bet Hockenson’s not worried about any of that. He’s got the skills that matter—good route runnin’, great hands, and the ability to make plays when it counts.
So, if you’re thinkin’ about the 40 time and what that tells ya, well, it ain’t always the whole story. T.J. Hockenson’s got plenty to offer, and that 4.70 don’t define him one bit. He’s still out there givin’ it his all, and that’s what matters most on game day.
