Alright, alright, let’s talk about this Ivan Toney fella in the FC 24 career mode, ya know? Heard some young’uns yappin’ about him, so I figured I’d poke around and see what the fuss is all about. Don’t know much about these video games, but I can tell ya a thing or two about a good player when I see one.
So, this Toney guy, he’s a striker, see? That means he’s the one supposed to be puttin’ the ball in the net. And from what I gather, he’s pretty darn good at it. They say he’s got an 80 rating in the game, which I guess is pretty decent. Some folks even sayin’ he can get even better, got that “potential” thing they talk about. Now, I don’t know what an 80 rating means in the grand scheme of things, but if he’s scorin’ goals, that’s good enough for me.
This fella is big, they say he’s 6’2″. That’s a tall drink of water, I tell ya. He must be good at headin’ the ball. Back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy stats and ratings. You just watched a player and you knew if he was any good. But I guess that’s how things are these days. Numbers, numbers, numbers.
Now, they also talk about his “skills” and “weak foot.” Sounds like a bunch of mumbo jumbo to me, but I reckon it means how good he is with the ball and whether he can kick it with both feet. They say he’s got 4-star skills and a 5-star weak foot, or maybe it’s 3-star skills and 3-star weak foot, these young’uns keep changin’ their minds. Whatever it is, sounds like he’s pretty handy with the ball, which is a good thing for a striker, I suppose.
One thing that’s kinda funny is that some of these game things say Toney is like 441 or 442 years old! That can’t be right, can it? He’d be older than Methuselah! I think maybe those computers got somethin’ wrong, ain’t no one that old still kickin’ a ball, let alone playin’ in some video game. He’s probably just a young fella, maybe in his twenties or somethin’. They say he plays for Brentford in the Premier League, which is one of them big leagues over in England. And they also say he just moved to some team in Saudi Arabia, Al Ahli, for a whole bunch of money. Forty million, they say! That’s enough to buy a whole lotta cows, let me tell ya.
- He’s a striker, scores goals. That’s what matters.
- They say he’s got a good rating in the game. Means he’s good, I guess.
- He’s tall, good for headin’ the ball.
- He’s got “skills” and a good “weak foot,” whatever that means. He’s good with the ball, that’s the gist of it.
- He plays for Brentford, then went to Saudi Arabia for a lot of money.
- The game says he’s 441 or 442 years old, which is just plain silly.
Anyways, if you’re playin’ this FC 24 career mode and you need a striker, seems like this Ivan Toney fella might be a good choice. He scores goals, he’s big, he’s got those fancy skills, and he plays for a good team, or at least he did before he went off to get that big pile of money. Just don’t pay no mind to that age thing, those computers got it all wrong.
Now, I don’t know nothin’ about buildin’ a team or managin’ players in a video game. But I do know that a good striker is worth his weight in gold, or maybe cows in my book. And from what I hear, this Toney guy is a pretty good striker. So go ahead, give him a try, see if he can win you some games. And if he don’t, well, don’t come cryin’ to me. I just told you what I heard.
At the end of the day, it’s just a game, ain’t it? Have some fun, kick the ball around, and don’t take it too seriously. That’s what I always say.
