Okay, so I’ve been meaning to do this for a while, and today I finally tackled it: documenting all the colorways of my AE 1s. Sounds kinda simple, right? But man, it turned into a whole thing.

First, I dragged all my shoe boxes out of the closet. I thought I had, like, five or six pairs. Turns out, it’s more like…a lot more. Oops. They were kinda piled up, some still had the tissue paper, others were just, you know, chillin’.
Getting Organized (Or Trying To)
I decided the best way to do this was to lay them all out on the floor. My living room looked like a sneaker explosion. My cat was super confused, kept sniffing and batting at the laces. It was kinda funny, but also a little chaotic.
Then came the hard part – actually figuring out what I had. Some of the colorways, I remembered buying them, like, “Oh yeah, that was the limited edition drop last summer!” Others? Totally blanked.
The Deep Dive
So, I grabbed my phone and started searching. I was going through sneaker blogs, old Instagram posts, even some obscure forums. It was like a treasure hunt, piecing together the names and release dates of each pair.
Here’s a rough list of what I ended up with, though I’m still not 100% sure on some of them:
- The OGs: The classic black and white ones. Can’t go wrong.
- The “Red Storm”: All red everything. Super bold.
- The “Midnight Blue”: These are kinda subtle, but I love the way the blue pops.
- The “What Were They Thinking?”: Okay, I made that name up. It’s this weird green and orange combo. I think I bought them on a whim.
- The “Mystery Pair”: Still working on identifying these. They’re mostly grey with some yellow accents.
- And a bunch more… I lost count, to be honest.
After a few hours of this, I finally had a (mostly) complete list. I took some pictures of each pair, tried to get the lighting right, but my phone camera isn’t the best.
Lessons Learned
Honestly, this was way more work than I expected. But it was also kinda cool to see all my AE 1s together and to, like, appreciate the collection I’ve built up.
My main takeaway? I need a better system for keeping track of my sneakers. Maybe a spreadsheet? Or an app? If anyone has suggestions, let me know! Also, maybe I should stop buying so many shoes…nah.
