Okay, so I’ve been on this whole Ric Flair robe kick lately. You know, “The Nature Boy,” the stylin’, profilin’, limousine-riding, jet-flying, kiss-stealing, wheelin’ and dealin’ son of a gun? Yeah, that guy. His robes are legendary, like, seriously iconic. I wanted to find an authentic one, a real piece of wrestling history. So I started digging.
First, I hit up some auction sites, because apparently, his match-worn robes go for a ton of money. I stumbled upon this one that sold recently, and let me tell you, it was a pretty penny! It’s wild to think about Flair strutting to the ring in these flashy, bejeweled robes every night. Most of them have “The Nature Boy” written on the back, and I figured that would be a good thing to look for.
Then I started looking for patterns in his robes. There’s this one black-and-white robe he wore a lot during his then-WWF run from ’91 to ’93. That one seemed like a solid choice, super recognizable. I even watched some old footage, like the ’92 Royal Rumble, just to get a better look.
I found this interview where Flair was talking about his robes, and he mentioned this story about Darius Rucker buying one for $35. I thought, “Man, if I could get that lucky!” It got me thinking, though, these robes must be worth a lot.
So, I went down the rabbit hole, searching online stores. I found a bunch of places selling “Ric Flair Robes,” some even with autographs, but I needed to be sure they were legit. I saw one that was supposedly “ring used” and signed for $29, which seemed too good to be true. There were also ones with “JSA Authenticated” signatures, which seemed more reliable.
I read somewhere that his robes were custom-made, costing like $10,000 each. Diamonds, feathers, the whole nine yards. I guess it’s a small price to pay to look like the “Nature Boy”!
I found a replica robe online, a red one with “Ric Flair” written on the back in silver. It looked pretty good, and the website said it was “superstar sized.” The price was okay, not cheap, but reasonable for a collectible. They called it a “Class Superstar” item, so I figured it had to be decent quality.
I also found some collectible figures of Ric Flair, some with little robe designs. I got one just for fun. It’s not a real robe, but it’s a cool little reminder of my search.
And finally, after a lot of searching, I found a black autographed robe that was “out of stock”. It was $499.99. I wasn’t sure if it was real or replica one, but the seller had good reviews. I added it to my wishlist and signed up to be notified when it’s back in stock.
So, after all that, did I find an authentic Ric Flair robe?
- I searched auction sites, online stores, and forums.
- I watched old matches and interviews to learn more.
- I found replicas and autographed robes.
- I found some information about the history and cost of his robes.
I have decided to wait for the $499.99 black autographed robe, hopfully it will be back in stock soon.
