So, I’ve been digging into this wrestler lately, Rhea Ripley. You know, the one from WWE? Well, I wanted to share my little journey of discovery about her. Honestly, I didn’t know much about her at first, just that she’s got this really cool, intense look and she’s a total powerhouse in the ring.
I started out pretty basic, just kinda poking around to find out who she even was. Turns out, her real name isn’t Rhea Ripley at all, it’s Demi Bennett. She was born in 1996, which makes her pretty young, right? And get this – she’s Australian! I mean, I guess you can kind of hear it in her voice sometimes, but I never really put two and two together. She’s from Adelaide, which is a beautiful place by the sea. Apparently, she is of Italian descent through her mother’s side.
Then, I started to look into how she got into wrestling. I found out she started her career back in 2013 in something called Riot City Wrestling. She was there for a few years, and she even won their Women’s Championship, not just once, but twice! She then moved on to another company called New Horizon Pro Wrestling. She’s been with WWE since July 2017. She became the Women’s World Champion and held the title for 380 days.
But it wasn’t just about her wrestling career, I was curious about the person behind the persona, you know? She mentioned in an interview that she was inspired by The Miz. I was like, whoa, that’s a name from the past! She also said that besides wrestling, she also knows swimming, karate, rugby, netball, and soccer!
I also looked into what she’s been up to outside of the ring. She’s been in a few video games, like WWE 2K20, WWE 2K Battlegrounds, WWE 2K22 and WWE 2K23. She’s even on the cover of WWE 2K24 with Bianca Belair.
Diving into all this stuff about Rhea Ripley, or rather Demi Bennett, was a bit of a whirlwind. I went from just recognizing her from WWE to learning about her start in wrestling, her championships, and even a bit about her life.
