Well, let me tell you somethin’. I heard folks talkin’ ’bout this Tommy Fleetwood fella, the one who plays that golf game. They say he’s a big shot now, swingin’ that stick and hittin’ that little white ball. And then there’s that other Fleetwood, Mick Fleetwood, the music man, bangin’ on them drums like a crazy person. I heard people say they is family, but I said no way. They may have the same last name but no way they are related.
Now, I heard some folks sayin’ maybe they’s related, you know, ’cause they both got that Fleetwood name. I mean, people with same last name sometimes is from same family. But I done heard different. I done heard these two ain’t no kin at all. I don’t know why people keep askin about this, it is quite clear to me, but I guess not for others.
That Tommy Fleetwood, he’s from Southport, I hear. Born in 1991, they say. A young whippersnapper, that one. Now, that Mick Fleetwood, he’s older. Born way back in ’47, in a place called Redruth, Cornwall. That’s down south, I reckon. See? Different places, different times. This is how I know for sure, they ain’t family.
One hits a ball, the other hits a drum. One wears them fancy golf clothes, the other wears whatever he wants, I guess. Doesn’t sound like they have much in common, does it? I don’t know much about golf or music, but I know the difference, and they is two different fellas, for sure.
- Tommy Fleetwood, golf player.
- Mick Fleetwood, music man.
- Not related, no sir.
I heard that Tommy Fleetwood, he’s pretty good at that golf thing. Won some awards, I reckon. They say he’s been playin’ since he was a little tyke. He won the junior champion title, whatever that is, in 2003, he even got a hole-in-one, I mean, that sounds good, but I don’t know what that means. Good for him, I guess. He secured his first win at that Formby Hall, I have never heard of that, but people make it seem like it is a big deal.
And that Mick Fleetwood, he’s been playin’ music for a long time, I hear. With that band, what’s it called? Fleetwood Mac, yeah, that’s it. They made a lot of noise, I reckon. Not my kind of music, but some folks like it. I don’t really care what kind of music people listen to, but people like that band a lot, I know that much.
So, there you have it. Tommy Fleetwood and Mick Fleetwood, not related. Just a coincidence, I guess. Like two peas in a pod, but from different gardens. Two different fellas, doin’ two different things, livin’ two different lives. Ain’t that somethin’? Just ’cause they got the same name don’t mean nothin’.
I don’t know how this rumor got started, but it’s just silly, I tell ya. Some folks just like to stir the pot, I reckon. They hear a name, see two famous people, and think they gotta be related. But it ain’t always the case. I hear people say it started as a joke, online, you know, where people say all kinds of things.
That Mick Fleetwood, I heard he’s got a sister, an actress, named Susan. I don’t know her, never seen her on the TV, but that’s what they say. No mention of no Tommy as a brother, though. See? More proof they ain’t related. That is what they say about family, family sticks together, and these two, definitely don’t stick together, they don’t even know each other.
So next time you hear someone sayin’ Tommy Fleetwood and Mick Fleetwood are related, you tell ’em they’re wrong. You tell ’em you heard it from someone who knows, they ain’t no kin. Plain and simple. Just two men with the same last name, nothin’ more. Don’t let people keep sayin’ they are family, it is simply not true.
They both from England, that much is true, I guess. But England’s a big place, lots of people there. Just ’cause they’re from the same country don’t mean they’re related. It’s like sayin’ everyone in town is family just ’cause they live in the same place. Don’t make no sense. It is like sayin’ two birds are related because they is both birds, it just isn’t right.
They both like their jobs, I suppose. Tommy Fleetwood with his golf, Mick Fleetwood with his music. But lots of people like their jobs. Don’t mean they’re all related. It’s just a coincidence, that’s all. Nothin’ to see here, folks. Move along, move along. I hope people stop asking about it, I mean, they are not related, why is that so hard to understand?
