Okay, so I got this idea to look into Patrick Mahomes rookie cards. I’m a big fan, and I thought, “Why not see what these things are worth?” It’s like a treasure hunt, you know?
First thing I did was hit up the internet. I mean, where else do you start, right? I typed in “Patrick Mahomes rookie card value” and boom – a whole bunch of websites popped up. It was overwhelming at first, but I started clicking around.
I found out that there are tons of different rookie cards for Mahomes. Like, a whole bunch! Some are autographed, some have pieces of his jersey, and some are just plain cards. It’s crazy how many variations there are.
- 2017 Panini Contenders Optic Rookie Ticket Autographs #103: This one’s a big deal. I saw it going for, like, almost $22,000! Can you believe that? For a card! It’s got his autograph, and it’s in perfect condition, which is why it’s so expensive.
- 2017 Panini National Treasures Patrick Mahomes RC Auto Patch #161 /99: Now, this one’s even crazier. It’s got his autograph AND a piece of his jersey. And there are only 99 of them in the whole world! I saw some people talking about how this is “the biggest of them all,” which probably means it’s super valuable. I didn’t even see a price, it’s that exclusive!
After digging around some more, I realized that the value of these cards depends on a lot of things. Like, the condition of the card is super important. If it’s all bent up or has a coffee stain on it, it’s not going to be worth much. And then there’s the whole grading thing. Apparently, there are companies that will grade your card and give it a score, and that affects the value too.
So, I spent a good few hours just reading articles, looking at pictures of cards, and checking out online marketplaces. I even watched a couple of videos of people opening packs of cards, hoping to find a Mahomes rookie. It’s pretty addictive, I gotta say.
My Conclusion
Basically, I learned that collecting Patrick Mahomes rookie cards is a serious hobby! People are really passionate about it, and some of these cards are worth a small fortune. I don’t think I’ll be buying a $22,000 card anytime soon, but it was fun to learn about it. Maybe I’ll start small and try to find a cheaper one, just to have a little piece of Mahomes history. Who knows, maybe it’ll be worth something big someday!
