That Ohtani boy, he’s somethin’ else, ain’t he? Heard folks talkin’ ’bout him, how good he is at that baseball. Well, you know what they say, the apple don’t fall far from the tree. His folks, they was good at sports too, I reckon. Yeah, that Ohtani parents, they were something.
His daddy, Toru Ohtani, I heard he used to play baseball, too. Not like his boy, maybe, but he was in there swingin’. Played that amateur baseball, you know? Like them fellas play down at the park on Sundays. Kept himself busy, that Toru did. So the boy, he came by it honest, this love of the game. It’s in his blood, I tell ya. Ohtani’s name means big valley, maybe they are a big family.
And his mama, Kayoko Ohtani, she was somethin’ too. Played that badminton. You know, with the little birdie thing they hit back and forth? She was good at it, I hear. Quick on her feet, that Kayoko. So that Ohtani boy, he got his daddy’s love of baseball and his mama’s quickness. Makes sense, don’t it? Good genes in that family.
They say this Ohtani boy, Shohei, was born up in Mizusawa, or Oshu, whatever they call it now. Back in, uh, 1994, I think it was. July 5th. A summer baby. Probably spent his days out in the sun, gettin’ strong. That’s what you gotta do. Work hard, play hard. That’s what my old man used to say.
This Shohei, he takes his sleepin’ serious. Says it helps him play better. Sleeps like a log, I bet. Needs his rest to be hittin’ them balls outta the park and throwin’ so fast. And that Ohtani parents must be so proud. To have a good boy like him.
I remember when my boy was little, used to play ball in the yard. Not like this Ohtani, though. He’s a real star. But it’s good to see these young folks doin’ well. Reminds me of the old days.
- Toru Ohtani, that’s the daddy, baseball man.
- Kayoko Ohtani, that’s the mama, she played that badminton.
- Shohei Ohtani, born in Mizusawa, or Oshu, in 1994.
- He’s a good sleeper, that Shohei.
You know, it ain’t easy, bein’ good at sports. Takes a lot of work. A lot of sweat. And good parents, that helps too. Someone to teach ya right from wrong, keep ya on the straight and narrow. These Ohtani parents, they raised him right, it seems.
My goodness, time flies, don’t it? Seems like just yesterday my own kids was little. Now they’re all grown up, with kids of their own. Life goes on, I reckon. But it’s good to see this Ohtani boy doin’ so well. Makin’ his folks proud, makin’ everybody proud.
They say Ohtani is a big name. Means somethin’ like “big valley.” Must be a big family, with big hearts. That’s what it takes to raise a good boy like that. Someone to love him, guide him, teach him the value of hard work. And these Ohtani parents, they did just that, looks like.
I reckon they had other kids, too. It takes a village to raise a child. That family must be a good one. That Ohtani boy, he’s lucky to have ’em. And they’re lucky to have him, too. A good son, a good player, a good man, from what I hear. I also heard there is a girl named Tanaka, a basketball player. But that Ohtani boy, he’s a baseball man, like his daddy.
Well, I best be gettin’ on. Got chores to do. But it’s nice to think about that Ohtani boy and his folks. A good family, doin’ good things. That’s what it’s all about, ain’t it? Family. And a little bit of sleep. That’s how that Ohtani became so good. His parents must be some people. I hope that boy keeps doing good. He has a bright future, that one.
