Right, so I needed some new golf shorts. My old ones, well, let’s just say they’d seen better days. Been playing a bit more lately, trying to get out when the weather holds, and comfort is key, you know? Nothing worse than being uncomfortable halfway through a round.

Started looking around. You see all sorts of brands, some fancy, some cheap. I wasn’t after anything too flashy. Just needed something reliable, something that wouldn’t fall apart after a few washes or feel like wearing cardboard.
Finding the PGA TOUR ones
Came across these PGA TOUR branded shorts. Didn’t think much at first, figured it was just a name slapped on. But the price was decent, not dirt cheap but not breaking the bank either. They mentioned things like ‘stretch waistband’ and ‘moisture-wicking’. Sounded about right for golf.
So, I decided to give them a shot. Picked up a couple of pairs in standard colors, khaki and navy. Nothing wild. The process was straightforward enough, found them easily in a store I drop into now and then.
First Impressions and Wearing Them
Got them home, tried them on. First thing I noticed? Pretty comfortable. The fabric had a bit of give to it, which is good. You do a lot of twisting and walking in golf, don’t want anything restricting you.
Took the khaki pair out for a round the following weekend. It was one of those warmer days. Happy to report, they felt good the whole time. Didn’t feel sticky or heavy, seemed to breathe okay. The waistband didn’t dig in when I bent over to line up a putt, which is a big plus for me. That can be really annoying with some shorts.
- Felt light enough.
- Stretchy where needed.
- Stayed relatively dry.
- Pockets were deep enough for tees and a ball marker without stuff falling out.
Holding Up Over Time
Washed them a few times now. They seem to be holding up okay. No weird shrinking or color fading yet. Still comfortable. They just sort of… work. Do the job they’re supposed to do without any fuss.

It’s funny, reminds me of tools sometimes. You can buy all the fancy gadgets, the ones with loads of features you never use. But often, it’s the simple, well-made screwdriver or wrench that you rely on day in, day out. These shorts feel a bit like that. Not trying to be anything they’re not, just a solid pair of shorts for playing golf.
There’s so much gear in golf that promises the world – clubs that’ll add 50 yards, balls that fly straighter. Most of it’s just noise. Finding something simple and reliable, like these shorts turned out to be, is actually quite refreshing. They just get out of the way and let you focus on your terrible slice, or in my case, trying to find the fairway.
So yeah, the PGA TOUR shorts. They’re alright. Doing the job so far.
