Alright, so I decided I really wanted to build up Firefly in Star Rail. Saw her kit, looked cool, you know how it is. First thing, gotta figure out what materials she actually needs. Pulled up the character screen, checked the ascension and trace requirements. Looked like a mix of stuff, some new things from Penacony and the usual trace materials.

Figuring Out the Grind
So, the main pain points looked like these:
- That new ascension material, seemed like it dropped from one of those new boss-type enemies in the latest Penacony map.
- Some kind of gear-looking thing from the regular robot enemies scattered around the dreamscapes.
- The usual trace materials, those colored book things.
Right, plan sorted. Time to get to work.
The Actual Process – Getting My Hands Dirty
First up, that boss material. I headed over to the new zone, found the marker for the Stagnant Shadow or whatever it’s called that drops her stuff. Gotta say, that fight took a few tries to get the rhythm down, but once I figured out the weak points, it was just a matter of burning through my Trailblaze Power. Did that run maybe six, seven times? Felt like it anyway. Got a decent chunk of the ascension stuff knocked out right there. That used up most of my stored power for the day.
Next, those robot parts. This was more of a slog, honestly. I marked a few spots on the Penacony maps where those specific automatons spawn. You know the ones, the little floating things and the bigger clanky guys. Then I just started teleporting between points, running the routes, beating them up, grabbing the drops, and repeating. Over, and over, and over. Listened to some music while doing it, made the grind a bit less mind-numbing. Took a good couple of hours just running these loops until I saw the numbers I needed.
Finally, the trace materials. These weren’t too bad since I usually farm the Calyxes whenever I have spare power. Checked my inventory, saw I was a bit short on the specific type Firefly needed. So, spent the next day’s power running that specific Calyx (Golden). Just auto-battle while doing something else, easy peasy. Had to do quite a few runs to get enough of the green, blue, and purple ones for the key traces I wanted to level up first.
All Set (For Now)
So yeah, after a couple of days focusing on it, I managed to gather pretty much everything needed for her initial ascension and some key traces. It was definitely a grind, especially those robot parts, but seeing the character actually ready to be leveled up felt pretty good. Now just gotta farm the EXP books and credits… the grind never really stops, does it? But hey, that’s the game. Got the Firefly materials sorted, mission accomplished for now.
