Alright, so I wanted to make a cool graphic of Ja Morant for a project I’m working on. I figured an SVG would be perfect because I could scale it without losing any quality. So, here’s how I went about it.

Finding a Good Reference Image
First things first, I needed a good picture of Ja to work from. I spent some time browsing online, looking for a dynamic pose that really captured his energy. I finally found one I liked – a shot of him mid-air, going for a dunk. It was perfect!
Tracing the Image
Next, I needed to turn that photo into a vector graphic. I opened up my trusty image editing software that supports creating SVG, and that’s where I got to work. I used the pen tool to start tracing, so I went ahead and opened up the picture and got to it.
This part took the longest. It was a lot of clicking and adjusting to get the lines just right. I zoomed in real close to make sure I captured all the important details – his jersey, the ball, the expression on his face, those kinds of tiny parts are the most difficult. I went section by section, slowly building up the outline of the figure.
Adding Color and Details
Once I had the basic outline, I started adding color. I picked colors that matched his Grizzlies uniform, making sure to get the shades of teal and gold just right. I could’ve used that picker tool, but it’s faster for me to just select the colors I want to use. I also added some simple shading to give the image a bit more depth. It’s not super realistic, but it adds a nice touch, you know?
Cleaning and Saving
After all the tracing and coloring, it was time for cleanup. I went back and smoothed out any jagged lines, making small adjustments here and there. I then saved it, making sure to use the “.svg” file extension.
The Final Result
And there it was! My very own Ja Morant SVG. It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s clean, scalable, and captures the essence of Ja’s electrifying play style. Now I can use it in my project, and it’ll look sharp no matter how big or small I make it. Success!
