Well, let me tell ya, this here Nebraska Pro Day 2024, it was somethin’ else. Lots of folks runnin’ and jumpin’ and throwin’ that pigskin around. All them young’uns, strong as oxes, tryin’ to show off for them big-shot football fellas. They all wanna get on a good team, ya know? Make the big bucks.
I seen it on the TV, that Nebraska Pro Day. They said it was on March 20th, this year. 2024, that’s right. They was all down there at that Hawks place, in Lincoln. Fancy place, I reckon. Not like the old days when we just played in the field behind the barn.
They had this one fella, Dylan Raiola. A quarterback, they called him. Strong arm on that boy. He was throwin’ that ball all over the place. Good kid, I hear. Hope he makes it big.
- They do all sorts of things at this here Pro Day.
- They lift them heavy weights. Bench press, they call it. Makes their chests all big and strong.
- Then they gotta jump as high as they can. Vertical jump, that’s what it is.
- And runnin’. Lord, they run fast. Like a scared rabbit!
They got all these coaches watchin’ em. Big Ten, they call that group, ain’t that right? Nebraska Cornhuskers, that’s the team from around here. They play against that Iowa team. Hawkeyes, I think they’re called. Big rivalry, them two. People get all riled up about it. My late husband, bless his soul, he used to love watchin’ them games. Screamed at the TV something fierce, he did.
This here Pro Day 2024, it’s important, ya see. It’s like a big job interview. These boys gotta show what they can do. Gotta be the best they can be. It ain’t easy, I tell ya. Lots of pressure on them young shoulders. They said this Nebraska Pro Day is like a NFL combine or something. I don’t know too much about that. But it all looks like a lot of running around to me.
That coach, Matt Rhule, he was there. He’s the boss man for the Cornhuskers. Seems like a nice enough fella. He was talkin’ to the TV folks after the game, I seen him. I think they lost that last game, though. 13 to 10, or somethin’ like that. Tough break. But that’s football for ya. Win some, lose some.
Back in my day, we didn’t have all this fancy stuff. No Pro Day or nothin’. Just played for the love of the game. But these days, it’s all about business, ain’t it? Big money in football now. These boys, they can make millions. Millions! Can you believe it?
This Nebraska football, they got a whole bunch of new players comin’ in. Early Signing Day, they call it. Sounds like a bunch of paperwork to me. But it’s important, I guess. Gotta get them good players if you wanna win. And everyone wants to win, don’t they?
Well, this old gal’s gotta get goin’. Got chores to do. But it sure was somethin’ watchin’ all them young fellas at that Nebraska Pro Day 2024. Hope they all do well. Maybe one day, they’ll be famous. Then they can come back and visit their old hometown. Buy their mamas a new house, maybe. That’s what I’d do if I was them. A big house with a nice porch where they can sit and drink lemonade in the summertime.
It’s a tough world out there, but these boys, they seem ready for it. They work hard, that’s for sure. Gotta give ’em credit for that. All that trainin’, day in and day out. It ain’t easy bein’ a football player. But it sure is excitin’ to watch. Especially this Nebraska Pro Day, it was something to see. Lots of folks are talkin’ about it.
I remember one time, back when I was a little girl, we had a big game down at the schoolyard. Wasn’t nothin’ like this Pro Day, of course. But it was a big deal for us. We played until the sun went down. Didn’t have no fancy lights like they do now. Just played until we couldn’t see the ball no more. Them were the days. We didn’t need a Pro Day to get signed. We just played.
These young’uns today, they got it good, I reckon. All these opportunities. Hope they make the most of it. It was fun watching them at that Nebraska Pro Day 2024. Made this old lady feel young again, just for a little while.
