Okay, so I’ve been messing around with MLB The Show again, you know, trying to get my pitches to come in a little slower. It’s been a whole thing, let me tell you. I started off just tweaking sliders, thinking that was the way to go. Upped the pitch speed, lowered the control, messed with the consistency – you name it, I tried it. But nothing seemed to give me that nice, slow pitch I was after.
Digging Deeper into Settings
Then, I started poking around in the individual player attributes. This was a bit more tedious, ’cause you gotta go player by player, but I was determined. I focused on attributes like Velocity, Break, and Control. Lowering velocity seemed like a no-brainer, and it did slow things down a bit, but not quite what I wanted. Messing with the break and control made the pitches more wild, but still not that perfect slow speed.
- Lowered Velocity on a bunch of pitchers.
- Reduced Break and Control to see what would happen.
- Spent hours testing different combinations.
After a lot of trial and error, I realized that velocity is not the only stat to make pitches slow. I also found that the K/9, BB/9 and H/9 will also affect pitching. And if you combine these stats together, you will find your ideal pitch speed. I kept on trying for a week, and finally, I can use slow pitch in a game now!
