Okay, so today I was digging into some old-school NFL stuff, specifically about Mike Riley and his time with the San Diego Chargers. It’s kinda random, I know, but I got sucked into a rabbit hole, and well, here we are.

First, I fired up Google. Just a basic search, you know? “Mike Riley San Diego Chargers”. Boom. Loads of stuff popped up.
I started sifting through the search results. A bunch of articles, some Wikipedia stuff, and a few old forum posts. The forum posts were kinda funny, actually – lots of heated debates from back in the day.
Diving Deeper
- I focused on finding articles from reputable sources, like, you know, ESPN or maybe some local San Diego newspapers from back then.
- I avoided anything that looked too clickbaity or like, totally biased fan rants.
- I mainly skimmed through the articles.
I bounced back and forth between a few articles, trying to piece together the timeline. Like, when exactly was he the head coach? What was the general vibe? Did the fans love him or hate him?
Then I remembered this awesome site, a database for NFL.
I jumped over there and plugged in “Mike Riley”.
I easily found out the exact years and his win-loss record.
I spent like, a solid hour just reading and cross-referencing stuff. I even jotted down a few notes. It’s not like I’m writing a book or anything, but it’s fun to keep track of this stuff.

Finally,I got a picture of Riley’s time in San Diego.
