So, I’ve been diving deep into this whole Mets manager situation, and man, it’s been a wild ride. First, I started by just casually browsing some sports news sites, you know, just to get the basic lay of the land. Who were the names being tossed around? What were the rumors?
Then I moved on to checking out fan forums and, of course, Twitter. It is the best and also worst place. It’s like drinking from a firehose of opinions, some smart, some… not so much. But it gave me a sense of the general mood, the hopes, the fears, the outright panic in some cases. Lots of hot takes, for sure. It’s very interesting.

After that, I tried to dig into the actual candidates. I read up on their past experiences, their managing styles, their win-loss records. I looked at some old interviews to see if I could get a sense of their personalities.

- Were they all about analytics?
- Did they seem like they could handle the New York media pressure cooker?
That last point is huge, by the way. Managing in New York is a whole different animal. You’ve got the fans, you’ve got the reporters… it’s intense!
Next, I spent a bunch of time just… thinking. Seriously. I tried to imagine each candidate in the dugout, dealing with the players, making those crucial in-game decisions. Could I see this person leading the team? Did their approach feel right for the current roster? I imagined and stimulated many times in my brain.
Finally, I formed my own opinion. It’s just my take, of course, and I’m no expert. But after all that digging and pondering, I definitely have a favorite. It’s not just about the numbers, either. It’s about the fit, the feel, the gut instinct.
