Okay, so, today I tried to learn some new dunking moves. I’m talking about the Mac McClung kind of stuff. You know, that guy is a beast! I found some videos and decided to give it a shot.
First, I did some warm-up. This is important, or you know, I might pull something. Just some simple stretches and a bit of jogging around the court. Nothing fancy, just making sure I don’t hurt myself. It took me, like, fifteen minutes? I wasn’t counting.
Then I started with some basic dunks. Just to get the feel of it, you know? Jumping, hanging on the rim, the usual stuff. I did a few one-handed, a few two-handed, just getting comfortable with the height. I mean it feels like it is higher than it looks.
Next, I tried some 360s. Man, that was tough! I fell a couple of times. Okay, maybe more than a couple. It’s way harder than it seems when those pros do it. Spinning in the air, keeping your eyes on the basket, and actually dunking… I’ve got to tell you, I have a new found respect for basketball players. It is not as easy as it looks in the videos.
- Attempt 1: Total fail. I spun, but I didn’t even get close to the rim.
- Attempt 2: A bit better. I jumped, spun, but slammed the ball into the backboard. It was more funny than successful.
- Attempt 3: Almost there! I spun, jumped, and… the ball bounced off the rim. So close!
After many tries, I finally managed to do one! A 360 dunk! It wasn’t pretty, but I did it. I felt like a king, well, maybe for like a second before I almost tripped getting down.
Then I got this crazy idea to try a between-the-legs dunk. Mac McClung makes it look so easy. Spoiler: it’s not. It is seriously, seriously not. First time I tried, I nearly hit myself in the face with the ball. Not my brightest moment, I must admit. The second time, I jumped, got the ball between my legs, but ended up just throwing the ball over the backboard. Again, I was laughing at myself more than anything.
A few more tries…
I kept at it, though. I don’t give up easily, you know? It took a while but in the end, I made it. Not sure if you can call it a “dunk” because the ball barely went in. It kind of bounced around the rim a bit before falling through. But, hey, it went in! I’ll take it.
So, that was my day trying out Mac McClung’s dunking. It was fun, it was tiring, and it was definitely a learning experience. I’m not going to be joining the NBA anytime soon, that’s for sure. But, I had a good time, and I got a good workout. And, I have a few new tricks to show off to my friends. That is what really matters. I mean, it is not everyday that you can say you tried to copy a pro, right?
Maybe next time I’ll try some other moves. Or maybe I’ll just stick to shooting. Dunking is hard work! I should probably record myself next time I try these. The bloopers alone would be worth it. Alright, enough for today. Time for some food.
