Okay, so, today I wanted to dig into something that’s been on my mind for a while now: Louis Oosthuizen’s golf bag. You know, what clubs does the guy use? I mean, he’s a major champion, so his gear has gotta be interesting, right?
I started by scouring the internet, just like any of us would. I went through a bunch of articles, forum threads, and even some equipment reviews. It was kind of a mess, to be honest. A lot of outdated info, some conflicting reports, and way too many technical terms that just went over my head. I just wanted to find some basic information, you know?
After a good chunk of time spent on it, I finally started to piece things together. I created a simple document and started to dump what I found in it, keeping track of my sources as best I could. Not super scientific, but it worked for me.
Here is what I have found
- Driver: It seems like he’s been loyal to Ping. He’s got the Ping G400 LST, and from what I gathered, he likes it because it helps him keep the ball low and reduce spin. Makes sense for those windy courses, I guess.
- Fairway Woods: This is where it gets a little tricky. He’s been spotted with a couple of different ones, but most recently I saw a Callaway Rogue and a TaylorMade M4. He must be testing out different options to see what fits best.
- Irons: He rocks a mixed set! He uses Ping i210 irons in the 4-7, 8 and 9 iron. These are known for being pretty forgiving, which is probably good for the long game.
- Wedges: He uses four wedges. Ping Glide 4.0 46 degrees, Titleist Vokey Design SM9 50 and 54 degrees, Titleist Vokey Design WedgeWorks 60 degrees.
- Putter: It looks like he trusts a Ping PLD Prototype. Nothing fancy, I guess. He must have good feeling on it.
- Ball: Titleist Pro V1x. This one’s a classic, right? Lots of pros use it.
So, that’s what I managed to figure out. It was fun but also kind of a headache. I wish there was a simple, straightforward way to get this kind of info. But hey, at least now I have a better idea of what Louis Oosthuizen’s working with out there on the course!
It is not easy to collect these details. Next time, I might try a different approach. Maybe I’ll check out some videos of him playing and try to spot the clubs visually. Or maybe I’ll just wait for a reliable equipment website to update their info. We’ll see!
