Okay, so today I’m gonna walk you through my little project: wrestlers from Boston. It sounds simple, and honestly, it kinda was… but there were a few bumps along the way, you know how it goes.

First off, I had this idea pop into my head. I was watching some old wrestling matches, and I realized a surprising number of wrestlers seemed to have a Boston connection. So, I thought, “Hey, why not try and make a list?”
I started with the obvious ones, the guys I knew for sure were from around there. John Cena was a no-brainer – West Newbury, Massachusetts, that’s practically Boston. Then there’s Tommaso Ciampa, a wicked good wrestler from Boston area. I just started jotting down names as they came to me.
Next, I hit the internet. This is where things got a little trickier. Wikipedia became my best friend. I searched for “List of professional wrestlers” and started sifting through it, looking for anyone with a Massachusetts connection. It was tedious, I’m not gonna lie. Lots of scrolling, lots of “Nope, not them,” but I kept at it.
I started a simple text file to store the names. I had to weed out some false positives. Some wrestlers were just billed from Boston, which means it was part of their character, not their actual hometown. I was looking for actual wrestlers from the Boston area.
Then I decided to get a bit more organized. I chucked my text file and started using a spreadsheet. I added columns for their real name, their wrestling name(s), where in Massachusetts they were from, and any notes I had about their career. This made things way easier to manage and compare information.
- Real Name
- Wrestling Name(s)
- Hometown (Massachusetts)
- Notes (career highlights, etc.)
I went back to Wikipedia, but also started digging around on wrestling fan sites, like Pro Wrestling Illustrated and forums. These were actually really helpful. Fans are obsessed with details, so I found a few names I hadn’t seen before. I double-checked the information against other sources before adding them to my list. I didn’t want any misinformation!
After a couple of hours of research, I had a pretty decent list. It wasn’t exhaustive, I’m sure there are more wrestlers out there that I missed, but it was a good start.
Finally, I decided to visualize the data. I used Google Maps and created a custom map with markers for each wrestler’s hometown. It was pretty cool to see where all these guys came from in relation to Boston. Some were right in the city, others were a bit further out.

The map isn’t anything super fancy, but it gets the job done. It’s a neat way to see the geographic distribution of wrestlers from the Boston area.
So that was my little project. It wasn’t anything earth-shattering, but it was fun, and I learned a few things along the way. I might try to expand on it later, maybe add some photos or videos, but for now, I’m happy with what I’ve got.
