My ZZZ Grind – The Whole ‘Nocha’ Thing
Alright, so I jumped into Zenless Zone Zero, super hyped like everyone else. Booted it up, went through the intro stuff, you know the drill. Everything looked flashy, the combat felt pretty slick right off the bat.

First few hours? Smooth sailing. Just banging through the story missions, getting the feel for switching characters, dodging attacks, the whole nine yards. It felt good, you know? Making progress, unlocking new areas in that weird TV dimension thingy.
Then I hit it. The wall. Not a boss fight, nah, something way more annoying. It was the Battery Charges. Suddenly, I wanted to run those resource stages, get stuff to make my crew stronger, but bam! ‘Not enough charge’. This whole ‘nocha’ situation, right? Like running out of gas halfway to where you wanna go.
So, what did I do? I remembered reading somewhere, maybe? Or just figured it out? Decided to just push the main story as far as I could. Forget grinding materials for a bit. The idea was, maybe the story unlocks more stuff, better stages, or just gives decent rewards itself. Less time wasted on low-level farming if I couldn’t do much anyway.
And yeah, that actually worked okay for a while. Focusing on the story quests definitely opened up more game features and better daily commissions later on. It felt like a better use of the limited energy I did have.
While doing that, I also decided to not spread myself thin. I picked three agents and stuck with them. Got lucky pulling Grace early on, she melts mobs pretty good with that electric damage, just like people said. So, resources I did get went straight into her and my main duo. Trying to level everyone seemed like a waste of time and precious batteries.
- Focused HARD on story missions.
- Picked a core team (Grace was a big help!).
- Only spent materials on those few characters.
But still, that ‘nocha’ feeling lingered. You run out of battery, and… what? Wander around the city? Talk to NPCs? Yeah, there’s some side stuff, but when you really just wanna bash some enemies for loot, hitting that energy gate is a drag. It breaks the flow, makes you put the game down when you don’t really want to.
Now? I’m kinda juggling. Log in, burn through the daily battery on the highest-level material stages I can manage, push story if there’s any left or if I get a refill. It’s manageable, I guess. But that feeling of being artificially stopped, that ‘nocha’ limit, it’s definitely my main gripe. You just gotta learn to play around it rather than through it. It is what it is.
