Alright, so today I spent a good chunk of time tracking down those Lumitoiles. Needed a bunch for Neuvillette, you know how it is. So, I figured I’d share how my hunt went.

First off, I just kinda started wandering around the newer Fontaine areas. I remembered they were introduced with the 4.1 update, so I headed straight for the Liffey Region and the Fontaine Research Institute area. Didn’t have a specific plan, just kept my eyes peeled near water, ’cause, well, Fontaine.
Honestly, the first few were easy grabs. Found some just sitting on the beaches, near the water’s edge north of the Opera Epiclese, around that area. Pretty straightforward. Collected maybe ten or fifteen pretty quick that way.
Getting Serious About the Search
But then the easy ones dried up. I realized just walking along the coast wasn’t gonna cut it if I wanted a decent amount. I needed a better approach.
I remembered seeing some clinging to structures underwater too. So, I decided to focus my search: check shorelines first, then dive underwater near those same shorelines or around submerged ruins. That seemed logical.
Key Areas I Focused On:
- Around the Mont Esus East: I spent a lot of time swimming along the coast here, both above and below water. Found quite a few stuck to the sides of walls and buildings underwater. They have that gentle blue glow, but sometimes they blend in a bit.
- Fontaine Research Institute Shorelines: The beaches and shallow waters around the Institute ruins yielded a good number. Some were just sitting on the sand, others were attached to metal debris.
- Central Laboratory Ruins: Both the surface areas with water nearby and the underwater sections around the collapsed structures were good spots. Had to swim around quite a bit here.
The underwater ones were a bit trickier. Sometimes they’re tucked away on the underside of a broken archway or half-hidden by seagrass. I really had to swim around objects and look from different angles. I wasn’t super methodical, more like, “Okay, sweep this beach, then dive down and circle anything that looks like a structure.”
The Underwater Hunt
Diving definitely became the main strategy after a while. It felt like more than half of them were below the surface. I went specifically to that underwater area directly east of the Mont Esus East teleport waypoint – the one with lots of broken walls and stuff. That place was pretty loaded. Swam up and down, left and right, grabbing them as I saw them.
It wasn’t always fast. Sometimes I’d clear an area, then swim back a bit later and spot one I completely missed, clinging to some random piece of metal I hadn’t checked properly. Bit annoying, but part of the process, right?

Eventually, after maybe an hour or so of dedicated searching, swimming, and climbing back onto shores, I had a decent haul. Enough to get Neuvillette to his next ascension level, which was the whole point.
So yeah, that was my Lumitoile run today. Basically: hit the beaches and coastlines in the northern Fontaine areas, then dive underwater right off those same coasts, especially around any ruins or structures. Keep your eyes open, they can be sneaky sometimes, especially underwater. Hope that helps someone else doing the same grind!
