Okay, so today I want to talk about this “lineup crossword” thing I got into. I’m not really a crossword puzzle guy, but my buddy kept bugging me about trying one, so I finally caved.
I started with the easy ones, you know, the Monday puzzles. Apparently, they get harder as the week goes on, with Saturday being the real brain-buster. I heard the Sunday one is huge, like a cultural icon or something, and it’s supposed to be like a Wednesday or Thursday difficulty. Some folks say it’s okay to peek at a dictionary or atlas if you’re just stuck on a couple of squares, or just to double-check your answers. Others are even more lenient, saying Googling is fine, within limits.
So, I got this app on my phone, and it’s pretty neat. I started filling in some words, and it wasn’t too bad. I got stuck on a few, though. The clue was just “lineup,” and I was drawing a blank. I mean, what could that even mean in a crossword? I tried a few things, but nothing fit.
Then, I remembered what those folks said about looking things up. I felt a little guilty, like I was cheating or something, but I really wanted to finish the puzzle. I searched for “lineup crossword clue”, and guess what? I found a site that had a bunch of answers for crossword clues. Turns out, “lineup” has been used like 20 times in different puzzles! I looked through the list, and there it was: The answer I needed was right there. I plugged it in, and boom, it fit perfectly.
Feeling like a pro
- I started with the easiest puzzles.
- Got stuck on the “lineup” clue.
- Searched for help online.
- Found the answer and finished the puzzle!
I gotta say, it felt pretty good to finish that puzzle. Even though I looked up one answer, I still felt like I accomplished something. And you know what? I actually had fun. Maybe I’ll try another one tomorrow, a Tuesday one this time. Who knows, maybe I’ll even work my way up to those Saturday monsters. It’s kind of addictive, you know? I might even become a regular crossword guy. We’ll see.
