Okay, so I’ve been wanting to really nail down a good Kurt Angle costume for a while now. I mean, he’s a legend, right? Olympic gold medalist, WWE champion… the whole nine yards. And his look is pretty iconic, so I figured, “Why not give it a shot?”

First thing I did was hit up some images online. Needed to get a good look at the details, you know? The singlets, the boots, the medals… everything. I spent a good hour just scrolling through pictures, trying to find the most common elements in his different outfits.
Getting the Singlet Right
The singlet was obviously the biggest part. I found a few different styles he wore. Some were plain red, white, and blue, others had more elaborate designs. I decided to go with the classic American flag design. It just screams “Kurt Angle,” you know?
- Tried looking for ready-made ones, but most were either cheap-looking or way too expensive.
- Ended up buying a plain red singlet. Figured I could add the details myself.
- Got some white and blue fabric paint and some star stencils. Took a couple of tries, but I managed to get a pretty decent-looking flag pattern on the front. My hands were pretty shaky, not gonna lie.
Boots and Accessories
Next up were the boots. Angle usually wore plain black wrestling boots.
- I found a pair on a second hand, they were used, but worked with minor fixes!
Then came the medals. Of course, I couldn’t get real Olympic gold medals (wouldn’t that be something?), but I found some pretty convincing replicas online.
- Ordered a set of three – gold, silver, and bronze – just to have some variety.
Finally, I practiced my entrance. Had to get that confident strut down, the way he’d point to the crowd… all that good stuff. Watched a bunch of his old matches for inspiration. My dog thought I was crazy, pacing around the living room like that.
The Final Result
Putting it all together was pretty satisfying. I looked in the mirror and, I gotta say, I didn’t look half bad! It wasn’t perfect, of course, but it definitely captured the essence of Kurt Angle. I even tried doing his signature “It’s true, it’s damn true!” catchphrase, but my voice cracked halfway through. Still working on that part.
Overall, it was a fun project. Took some time and effort, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Now I just need an occasion to wear it… maybe Halloween? Or a wrestling-themed party? We’ll see!
