This here Matt Campbell, I tell ya, he’s a name folks keep talkin’ ’bout, ‘specially ’round Michigan way. He’s a football coach, you see. A big shot, they say. He’s been coachin’ over at Iowa State, makin’ them Cyclones somethin’ fierce. Nine years now, Lordy, time flies. They say he has 63 wins. Big number, that is.
Now, folks in Michigan, they been watchin’ him. Their coach, Jim Harbaugh, well, there’s been talk. Some folks say he stay, some say he go. If he goes, they need a new one, that’s for sure. And this Campbell fella, he’s on their minds. They say he’s a strong one. They wish him to be the next coach.
This Campbell, he’s got somethin’ special, I reckon. He took that Iowa State team, and they weren’t much to start, not much at all. But he whipped ’em into shape. They even got close to playin’ for the big one, the national title. Imagine that. This makes people in Michigan think he is the right person.
They say this Campbell fella, he even turned down the Michigan job once. Said he wanted to stay put, keep buildin’ what he started at Iowa State. That’s loyalty, ain’t it? A rare thing these days.

But this Matt Campbell, he’s the one they keep comin’ back to. He makes those Cyclone players win, and that’s a good thing for a coach. A real good thing. And Michigan, they need some winnin’.
This Campbell, he’s got a good thing goin’ at Iowa State. They just gave him a new contract, eight more years! That’s like forever in this world. He is the winningest coach there. He must be makin’ good money too. They say he’s makin’ over four million dollars. That’s a lot of money, even I know that. He must be doin’ somethin’ right, that’s for sure.
They say this Campbell, he was born in ’79. Back when I was young and spry. He’s from America, just like me. He’s a coach, through and through. That’s all he does, I reckon. Coaches them football players.
Now, I don’t know much ’bout this football, but I know a hard worker when I see one. And this Matt Campbell, he seems like a hard worker. He’s got that Iowa State team playin’ good. Real good.

People say if Jim leaves, Matt Campbell is the best one. But will he leave? He has a good thing there. Maybe he will stay. If he stays, he will make Iowa State even better, I think. If he leaves, Michigan will be happy. They will be very happy. He is a good coach. A very good coach.
I don’t know much about football. But I know this. Matt Campbell is a good name. A good coach. Michigan wants him. Iowa State wants him to stay. He has a choice to make. A big choice. I just hope he makes the right one. For him. For his team. For football.
