So, I was trying to get better at crosswords, right? And I kept getting stuck on clues about different kinds of “handles.” You know, like, what’s another word for a handle? That kind of thing.

I figured the best way to tackle this was to just make a list. I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen, old-school style, and started brainstorming.
My Brain Dump
- Door handles: I thought of the obvious ones first, like “knob” and “latch.”
- Bike handles: “Grips” came to mind immediately.
- Tool handles: This was a bit trickier. I wrote down “haft” – I remember seeing that in a crossword once!
- Nickname handles: What about a “CB handle”? That led me to “alias” and “moniker.”
- Figurative handles This is where the thing got complicated. A “handle” on a situation – like, a way to understand it. That made me think of “grasp,” “understanding,” and “perspective.”
I realized that the words I wrote down weren’t good enough, so I decided to check and see what an online dictionary could do for me.
After that, I tried a few more crossword puzzles, focusing on those “handle” clues. I actually got a few that I would’ve missed before!
It’s still a work in progress, for sure. I’m not suddenly a crossword master or anything. But I definitely feel like I have a better, well, handle on those clues now! It’s all about taking it one step at a time and building up your knowledge gradually.
