So, I decided to finally jump into the Ready or Not alpha PvP the other day. Heard some chatter about it, figured I’d give it a whirl myself, see what the fuss was about.

First thing, had to make sure the game was updated. Booted it up, navigated through the menus. Took me a second, honestly, to find where they tucked the PvP mode away. Not super obvious right off the bat, but got there eventually. Clicked on it, hoping for the best.
Getting into the Action
Queued up for a match. Didn’t take too long to find one, which was nice. Loading in felt familiar, same kind of vibe as the PvE stuff. But once the round started, man, it felt different. Way faster pace, obviously. No AI predictability here.
My first few rounds were rough. Like, really rough. Got smoked pretty quick. People seemed to know the maps and angles way better than I did. It wasn’t quite like the slow, methodical clearing I was used to. More about quick peeks, holding weird angles, and reacting fast.
- Died instantly from unseen corners.
- Got flanked while trying to figure out the objective.
- Fumbled my grenades more than once.
It was a bit chaotic trying to coordinate with random teammates too. Sometimes it clicked, sometimes it felt like everyone was doing their own thing. Communication is key, just like in the regular game, but it’s harder to manage when everyone’s twitchy.
Figuring Things Out
After getting blasted for a bit, I started to get a feel for it. The gunplay still feels weighty and impactful, which is good. Recoil matters. You can’t just run and gun like some other shooters. Positioning felt super important.
This is where it got interesting. I started trying to apply some of the tactics from the PvE side. Slowing down a bit, checking corners properly, trying to use utility like flashbangs or shields more deliberately. It helped. Didn’t turn me into a superstar overnight, but I started winning more gunfights, surviving longer.
There was one match on, I think it was the gas station map? We were defending. Managed to hold an angle near the back rooms, caught a couple of guys trying to push through smoke. Felt really satisfying, that tactical outplay element still being there amidst the faster PvP pace.
Final Thoughts for Now
It’s definitely alpha. You can feel it. Some rough edges here and there. Sometimes things felt a bit janky. But the core is there. It’s tense, the shooting feels good, and when you pull off a coordinated push or a solid defense, it feels rewarding.

Took me a while to adjust from the PvE mindset, but once I did, I started having some real fun. It’s a different beast entirely. If you go in expecting the same slow-burn tactical experience, you might be surprised. But if you’re up for a faster, more reactive challenge using RoN’s mechanics, it’s worth checking out. Just be prepared to die a lot while you learn the ropes.
