So, the other day I got curious about the Charlotte Hornets. You know, you watch a team struggle for a bit, and your mind starts wandering back. I was thinking, man, it feels like forever since they were really making noise in the playoffs. Not just getting there, but actually winning a series.

It wasn’t like a deep research project or anything, just a thought nagging at me. So, I did what most folks do, I guess. I grabbed my phone while watching some highlights later that evening. Just typed in something simple, like “charlotte hornets last playoff series win”.
First off, you get hit with a lot of articles talking about the drought. That tells you something right away, doesn’t it? It wasn’t exactly yesterday.
Then I had to remember the whole name shuffle. They were the Hornets, then the Bobcats, then the Hornets again. Sometimes that messes up search results, or you gotta make sure you’re looking at the right franchise history. It’s all the same lineage, technically, but you know how sports history can get weird with relocations and name changes.
Anyway, I scrolled past the recent playoff appearances where they lost in the first round. Had to keep digging back a bit.
And then, boom. There it was. Found the answer.
2002. Two thousand and two.
That was the last time the Charlotte Hornets franchise won a playoff series. They beat the Orlando Magic back then. Can you believe that? 2002! That’s ages ago in basketball time.
Baron Davis was leading that team. David Wesley, P.J. Brown… guys like that. It really puts into perspective how long it’s been for the fans there.

So yeah, just thought I’d share what I found after that little trip down memory lane. It was quite a while back. Makes you appreciate how hard it is to get those playoff series wins.
