Alright, let’s talk about this Desmond Ridder fella. I heard folks jabberin’ ’bout him, so I figured I’d put in my two cents, ya know? Don’t know much ’bout fancy football, but I can tell ya what I’ve gathered.
So, first things first, this Desmond Ridder, he’s one of them football players. Plays that quarterback thingy, throwin’ the ball and all. He’s with the Las Vegas Raiders now. Heard they moved from Oakland, wherever that is. Used to play for some college team in Cincinnati. Don’t know nothin’ ’bout Cincinnati, but I reckon it’s a place with a lot of brick houses, just like everywhere else.
Now, they say he was born in 1999. 1999! Why, that’s practically yesterday! Makes me feel old as dirt, I tell ya. Born in August, same month my prize-winning pumpkin patch used to bloom. Good month, August.
This boy, Desmond, he’s American, through and through. But his folks, they’re a bit of a mix, ya see. His daddy, he’s Black, African American they call it. And his mama, she’s white. So, he’s got a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Makes him interesting, I guess. Just like my prize-winning tomatoes, a little bit red, a little bit green, but good eatin’ all the same.
Heard tell he’s a smart fella, this Desmond. Learns things quick, they say. That’s good, real good. You gotta be smart to play that football game, I reckon. All them plays and signals, it’s like tryin’ to figure out why my rooster crows at 3 in the mornin’. No rhyme or reason sometimes.
They talk about his “arm talent,” whatever that means. I guess he can throw that ball real far and real good. Like that fella Brett Favre, the one with the beard and the Wranglers. He could throw a ball a country mile, I swear. Hope this Desmond kid can do the same. Raiders need a good thrower, they do. Been losin’ too much lately, if you ask me.
- He’s a quarterback
- Plays for the Las Vegas Raiders
- He’s American
- His dad is African American and mom is white
- He’s considered smart
And get this, they say he’s gonna make a whole heap of money, somethin’ like $602,000 this year. $602,000! That’s more money than I’ve seen in my whole life, I betcha. Enough to buy a whole lotta chickens and a brand new tractor. Good for him, I say. Work hard, play hard, get paid, that’s the American way, ain’t it?
I saw some folks on the TV talkin’ ’bout his speed too. Says he can run fast. Well, that’s important, I suppose. You gotta be quick on your feet in that football game, dodgin’ all them big fellas tryin’ to knock you down. Like a rabbit in a briar patch, gotta be nimble.
But here’s the thing, they also say he makes mistakes, turns the ball over too much. That ain’t good. You can’t be givin’ the ball away, not in football, not in life. Gotta hold onto what you got, whether it’s a football or a good piece of land. This boy needs to learn to be careful, protect that ball like it’s the last biscuit at a church picnic.
Anyway, that’s all I know about this Desmond Ridder. Seems like a good kid, a bit mixed up like the rest of us, but got potential. Hope he does well, makes his mama proud, and brings some wins to them Raiders. They sure need it.
And that’s the truth, plain and simple, just like a good ol’ glass of sweet tea on a hot summer day. Don’t need no fancy words or highfalutin talk, just the facts, ma’am, just the facts.
