Alright, so I decided to spice things up with my fantasy football league this year. We’ve always had pretty generic team names, and I thought, “Why not go all-in on something fun and a little different?” That’s how I landed on trying to come up with some killer female-focused team names.
First, I grabbed my laptop and opened up a fresh Google Doc. Gotta have a place to dump all those brainwaves, right? Then, I just started brainstorming. I thought about all the strong female figures I admire – athletes, musicians, movie characters, you name it. I jotted down anything that came to mind, no matter how silly it seemed at first.
I also spent a good chunk of time just surfing the web. I hit up some forums and blogs dedicated to fantasy football. I figured other people must have tackled this before, and I was right! I found some pretty good ideas, but a lot of them were… well, let’s just say they weren’t exactly my style. Many used slang or offensive terms, and I made it a rule that all words must be positive. Too much negativity in the world already.
I wanted names that were clever, empowering, and maybe even a little bit funny. Here’s part of the list to give everyone an idea:
- Victorious Secret
- Run Like a Girl
- Fierce Fillies
- Gridiron Goddesses
- Lady Luck Football
- Touchdown Divas
- The Avengers (but with my friends’ names)
My next step was to narrow down the list. I started crossing off anything that felt too cliché or just didn’t quite fit the vibe I was going for. Then, I asked my friends in the league for their input. After all, they’re the ones who have to see these names all season long!
We had a good laugh going through the options. I realized that for my team I want Touchdown Divas or Victorious Secret. I am still waiting for my last friend to vote!
In the end, I think I came up with some pretty solid options. It was actually a lot of fun, and it definitely got me even more excited for the season to start. I mean, who doesn’t want to crush their opponents with a team name that’s both fierce and fabulous?
