Okay, here’s my take on the “CJ Stroud overrated” debate, presented as a personal blog post:

So, I’ve been seeing a ton of hype around CJ Stroud, and honestly, I wasn’t totally buying it. I decided to dig in and see what all the fuss was about – or, if there even should be fuss. I’m not a professional scout or anything, just a guy who likes watching football and forming my own opinions.
My Deep Dive into CJ Stroud
First, I grabbed a bunch of game footage. I didn’t just want the highlight reels; I wanted the full games, the good, the bad, and the ugly. I focused on a few key things:
- Decision-making under pressure: How does he react when the pocket collapses? Does he force throws? Does he make smart choices with his legs?
- Accuracy on different throws: Not just the deep bombs, but the short, quick passes, the intermediate routes. Is he consistently hitting his receivers in stride?
- Reading defenses: Does he seem to understand what the defense is showing him? Does he adjust at the line of scrimmage? Does he look off defenders?
- Consistency: One amazing game doesn’t make a career. Does he show up week after week?
I spent a good few days just watching him play. I took notes, I rewound plays, I compared him to some other QBs I think are top-tier. It wasn’t a scientific study, but it was more than just casually watching a game.
After that, I looked at some stats. Not just the basic stuff, but things like completion percentage under pressure, yards per attempt on third down, things that give a better picture of how he performs in clutch situations. I also dove into some online discussions, scouting reports, just to get a sense of what other people were saying. I wanted to see if my initial gut feeling was way off base.
Finally, I tried to put it all together. My eyes, the stats, the opinions of others… It’s tough to really know if a player will be great at the next level, but I definitely felt like I had a better understanding of CJ Stroud as a player, and the “Overrated” title to my own testing.
So, I can not say he is overrated.
