Alright, so fantasy football season kicked off, and like usual, I got sucked right back in. Draft night went pretty well, I think. Managed to snag Dak Prescott as my QB. Solid pick, I reckon. He’s usually pretty reliable when he’s healthy. Anyway, drafting the players is only half the battle, right? You gotta have a decent team name.
So, I sat down the other day, trying to figure out a good name centered around Dak. My old name was getting stale, needed something fresh. First thing I did was just jot down stuff related to him. You know, Prescott, Dak, Cowboys, Dallas, QB1, maybe something about his comeback story, that sort of thing.
Then I started messing around with puns. It’s the easiest place to start, yeah? Played with “Dak Attack”, “Prescott Your Luck”, stuff like that. Some were okay, some were just dumb. You gotta filter out the real clunkers early on. I spent a bit just saying potential names out loud. Helps you figure out if they actually sound any good or just look okay written down.
Trying to Get Creative
Plain puns are fine, but sometimes you want something a bit punchier, maybe a pop culture twist. I started thinking about songs, movies, common phrases. Could I slot “Dak” or “Prescott” in somewhere? Took a while. You try stuff like “Dak to the Future” or “Prescott on Delivery”. Some hit, some miss. It’s a process, you know? Trial and error mostly.
I thought about his jersey number too, number 4. Maybe something like “Dak 4 More”? A bit simple, but gets the point across. I also considered leaning into the whole Cowboys thing, but sometimes that feels a bit too generic if you’re not a die-hard Cowboys fan, which I’m kinda not, just drafted their QB.

So yeah, that’s the list I ended up with. Still haven’t decided 100% which one I’ll roll with for the season. Maybe “Dakstreet Boys” for the chuckle factor, or something simple like “Dak Attack”. We’ll see. Anyway, that was my little naming adventure for the fantasy team this year. Hope it gives you some ideas if you snagged Prescott too.
