Alright, folks, let’s dive into my little adventure with the “Capital Wasteland” mod. I’m no modding expert, just a regular gamer who likes to tinker, so bear with me.

Getting Started
First things first, I had to make sure I had the right games. This mod needs both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, with all their DLCs. Luckily, I had both sitting in my Steam library. So I dusted them off, and made sure everything was up-to-date. Phew, step one done.
The Scary Part (Installation)
Next up, the installation. The instructions looked pretty simple. I followed the steps, which was basically to put the mod file in the right place for the game.
- First I download FOMM(Fallout Mod Manager) and install it.
- I had to create a new folder and extracted the mod files to it.
- Then, I launched FOMM and activated the mod.
Honestly, my heart was pounding a bit during this part. Messing with game files always feels a little risky, you know? Like, one wrong move and poof, there goes your save file. Thankfully I did not mess it up
Loading It Up
With the mod (hopefully) installed correctly, I fired up Fallout: New Vegas. And… it worked! I saw the familiar intro, but with a little twist – there it was, the option to start in the Capital Wasteland (that’s Fallout 3’s world, for those not in the know).
Exploring the Wasteland
I picked the Capital Wasteland start, and boom, I was back in Vault 101. It was pretty surreal, seeing Fallout 3’s world through the lens of New Vegas. Some things were a bit wonky, like the occasional texture glitch, but overall, it was amazing. I wandered around, fought some super mutants, and generally just soaked it all in.
My Verdict
So, was it worth it? Absolutely! It’s not perfect, there are bound to be some bugs and quirks, but it’s an incredible way to revisit Fallout 3. If you’re a fan of both games, I’d say give it a shot. Just remember to back up your saves, just in case! That’s all from * a good game!
