My Crossword Grind Today
Okay, so I sat down with my coffee this morning, ready to tackle the daily crossword. It’s my little ritual, you know? Keeps the brain ticking. Everything was going smoothly until I hit this one clue: _ de France. Four letters needed.
My first thought immediately went to the big bike race. What’s it called? The something de France. It’s famous, right? Everyone knows it. My mind instantly jumped to TOUR. It fits the four letters.
But you know how crosswords are. Sometimes they try to trick you. Could it be something else? I looked at the crossing letters I already had filled in. Let’s see… I had an ‘O’ as the second letter from a down clue. That looked promising for TOUR. The last letter crossed with a word going down, and I had an ‘R’ there too. Okay, that felt pretty solid.
So, I had _ O _ R. It really had to be TOUR. I couldn’t think of any other common four-letter word that fits “_ de France” and matches those crossing letters. Stuff like “Ile” de France came to mind, but that’s only three letters, and it didn’t fit the ‘O’ or the ‘R’ I had in place.
I took a breath and just went with it. I penciled in T-O-U-R. Felt right. Looked right with the crossing words I already had.
It’s funny how sometimes the most obvious answer is the right one, but you still second-guess yourself. Glad I got that one sorted. Now, onto the rest of this puzzle. Wish me luck!
