Okay, so I’ve been meaning to upgrade my Muay Thai gear, and I finally took the plunge and ordered a “short top” style of shorts. I’d seen a few guys at the gym rocking them, and I liked the, uh, breezier feel they seemed to offer. Plus, I figured it was time to show off the quads I’ve been killing myself to build. ๐ช

Finding the Right Pair
First, I scoured a few online shops. I wanted something that looked cool, obviously, but also something that wouldn’t fall apart after a few washes. you know, something durable.
- I checked out a couple of the big-name brands, always reliable.
- Then I dug around on some smaller sites, figuring I might find something unique.
- Saw some with, like, dragons and stuff. Almost went for it, but decided to keep it (somewhat) classy.
The “Unboxing”
The shorts arrived pretty quick, faster than I expected, really. I ripped open the package โ no time for scissors when new gear is involved โ and there they were. The material felt nice and light, way better than my old, heavy ones. I got a pair in black, with some cool gold detailing. Simple, but effective.
The First Training Session
This is where the real test happened. I threw them on, and man, the difference was immediately noticeable. So much more freedom of movement! My old shorts always felt a bit restrictive, especially when throwing high kicks. These, though? Felt like I was barely wearing anything (in a good way, of course).
I went through my usual warm-up, then started hitting the heavy bag. High kicks, roundhouses, teeps โ everything felt smoother, more fluid. It was like the shorts were actually helping me kick higher. (Maybe it was just in my head, but I’ll take it!)
I even sparred a bit with my usual partner. He actually commented on how “fast” my kicks looked. Placebo effect? Maybe. But I definitely felt more agile, and my kicks felt snappier.
The Verdict
So, after a good solid week of training in these “short top” Muay Thai shorts, I gotta say, I’m a convert. They’re comfortable, they look good, and they genuinely seem to improve my range of motion. Iโm pretty happy with my purchase.
If you’re thinking about trying out this style of shorts, I’d say go for it. Just make sure you, uh, feel confident wearing them. They do show a bit more leg, but hey, if you’ve got it, flaunt it, right? Now I just want to keep training and get even better!
