Hey everyone, so, I tried making Bubba Watson’s Masters dinner at home. Yeah, the one he picked for the Masters champions. It was quite the experience, let me tell you.
First off, I gathered all the ingredients. It sounds simple enough, right? Caesar salad, grilled chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, corn, macaroni and cheese, cornbread, and a confetti cake with vanilla ice cream. I thought, “I got this.” But man, it was a lot of stuff!
I started with the Caesar salad. You know, chopping up the lettuce, making the dressing from scratch, grating the cheese. It felt like I was already running a marathon, and that was just the appetizer!
- Chopped a bunch of romaine lettuce.
- Made the Caesar dressing. It was my first time, and it turned out okay, I guess.
- Grated a mountain of Parmesan cheese. My arms got tired, seriously.
Next up, the grilled chicken. I seasoned the chicken breasts with some salt, pepper, and a little bit of paprika. I wanted to get that nice, smoky flavor, so I fired up the grill. Grilling is usually fun, but keeping track of everything else at the same time? Not so much.
Then came the sides. Oh boy, the sides. I boiled potatoes for mashing, steamed the green beans, and cooked the corn. The mac and cheese was a whole other ordeal. I made a cheese sauce, boiled the pasta, mixed them together, and baked it until it was bubbly and golden brown. I felt like a one-man kitchen army!
- Mashed the potatoes with a ton of butter and milk. It had to be creamy, you know?
- Kept the green beans simple, just a bit of salt and pepper.
- Buttered up the corn. Classic move.
The Baking Challenge
The cornbread was surprisingly easy. I mixed the batter and baked it until it was golden and fluffy. But the confetti cake? That was the real challenge. I baked the cake layers, made the frosting, and tried to assemble it without it falling apart. It wasn’t perfect, but hey, it was colorful!
- Mixed and baked the cornbread. It actually turned out pretty good.
- Struggled with the cake. It was leaning a bit, but I managed to frost it.
- Topped it all off with vanilla ice cream. Because why not?
Finally, I set the table and served everything up. It was a feast, to say the least. And you know what? It tasted pretty darn good. It might not have been exactly like Bubba’s, and it definitely wasn’t served in the fancy Masters setting, but it was a meal made with a lot of effort and love.
Looking back, it was a fun challenge. Would I do it again? Maybe not anytime soon. But it was definitely an experience I won’t forget. Plus, I have a newfound respect for anyone who can cook for a crowd, especially a crowd of champions!
