Alright, let’s talk about this UConn basketball team, you know, the one with the dog on their shirts. I hear all sorts of things from my grandkids, they always yappin’ about this player and that player, so I figured I’d try and make sense of it all for ya.
So, first things first, they’re talkin’ ‘bout recruiting. That’s like when the coach goes lookin’ for new young’uns to play ball. Sounds like they got some good ones comin’, or at least that’s what they’re sayin’. They got this kid, Eric somethin’-or-other, Reibe, I think they called him. Big fella, seven foot tall! Heard he’s from Germany, imagine that, all the way from across the water to play some ball in Connecticut. They say he’s real good, ranked high and all, but you know how these things go, you never really know till they start playin’.
Then there’s this other kid, Darius Adams. And another one, Braylon Mullins. Sounds like they got a whole bunch of ‘em lined up for next year, 2025 they say. My grandson says they’re callin’ it a “loaded class”. Loaded with what, I don’t know, maybe too many players? Hope they got enough balls to go around!
Now, I heard some whispers, you know, like when you’re at the grocery store and the ladies are gossiping by the vegetables. They were sayin’ somethin’ about a “hiccup” with another player, Meleek Thomas. Don’t know what that means, maybe he ate too fast or somethin’. But then I heard somethin’ else, they say UConn ain’t lookin’ at no more American kids for 2025. Said they got enough. Maybe that German fella is all they need, who knows.

- Braylon Mullins – and another one! They got a whole team of ‘em comin’.
They also had this other young fella comin’ for a visit, a “combo guard” they called him. Didn’t catch his name, but they said he’s one of the best. Always bringin’ in these fancy players, makes your head spin tryin’ to keep up. They had that Jordan fella a while back, he was pretty good, everyone was talkin’ about him. Now they got new names, new faces, always somethin’ new.
It’s all a bit confusing if you ask me. One minute they’re sayin’ one thing, the next minute it’s somethin’ else. Just like when they’re tryin’ to tell you how to use that newfangled phone, always changin’ things around. But from what I can gather, they got some good players comin’, and they’re hopin’ to win some more games. That’s what it’s all about, ain’t it? Winnin’ games.
And this coach, what’s his name? Oh yeah, I heard folks talkin’ good things about him. They say he knows what he’s doin’, bringin’ in all these young fellas and teachin’ ’em how to play. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it all shakes out. They always got these rankings and predictions, but it don’t mean nothin’ till they get out there on the court and start playin’.
So, to sum it all up, UConn basketball is gettin’ some new players, sounds like they’re good ones. They got a big guy from Germany, a couple of other fellas, and maybe a “combo guard” too. They ain’t lookin’ for no more American kids for 2025, seems like they got enough. And there was some talk about a “hiccup” with another player, but who knows what that’s all about. Just gotta wait and see what happens, that’s what I always say.
Anyways, that’s what I heard, take it with a grain of salt, you know how these things are. People like to talk, especially about basketball. Me, I just like watchin’ ’em run around, long as they don’t get hurt. And maybe win a game or two, that’s always nice.
