Alright, let’s talk about this Blaine Morikawa fella and what’s inside his golf bag, you know, like what them fancy golf pros carry.
I heard tell these golfers, they got a whole bunch of sticks in their bags. They got this thing called a driver, looks like a big ol’ hammer to me. Then they got a 3-wood and a 5-wood, I guess them’s for hittin’ the ball a bit softer, not so hard like that driver.
After that, they got irons, from a 4 iron all the way down to a pitching wedge, they call it a PW. And then they got more wedges! A gap wedge, a sand wedge, and a lob wedge. Too many wedges if you ask me. And lastly, that putter thing, for rollin’ the ball into the hole. That’s the one that looks like a little stick with a flat head.
Now, this Blaine Morikawa, he’s a good one, they say. A real champion. So, what’s he got in his bag, you ask? Well, it ain’t too different from them other pros, but let’s take a peek, shall we?
- Driver: He’s gotta have one of them big drivers for smackin’ the ball a long way down the fairway. Gotta hit it far, that’s what they say.
- 3-Wood and 5-Wood: These are for when he needs to hit it a bit shorter, but still wants it to go a good ways. You know, like when he’s on the grass, not that rough stuff.
- Irons (4-PW): These are for when he’s closer to the green. They got different numbers on ’em, and each one makes the ball go a different height and distance. Confusin’ stuff, I tell ya.
- Gap Wedge, Sand Wedge, Lob Wedge: These are for when he’s really close to the green, or if he’s stuck in that sand trap stuff. The lob wedge, that’s for when he needs to hit the ball high up in the air and make it stop real quick. Show-off stuff, if you ask me.
- Putter: This is the one he uses on the green, to roll the ball into the hole. Gotta be gentle with that one, they say. No smackin’ allowed with the putter.
Now, sometimes these fellas, they might change things up a bit. Maybe they don’t like the 5-wood and they put in one of them hybrid thingamajigs instead. Or maybe they use a drivin’ iron, looks like a skinny iron but it’s supposed to hit like a wood, go figure. It all depends on what they like and what they’re good at, I reckon.
Blaine Morikawa, he’s a young fella, but he’s already won some big tournaments. That Open Championship, that’s a big deal. And he’s up there in the world rankings too, number 14 they say. That’s pretty darn good if you ask me. He must know what he’s doin’ with them clubs of his.
So, there you have it. That’s what’s inside Blaine Morikawa’s golf bag, or at least what them golf folks tell me. A whole bunch of sticks, each one for a different job. Sounds complicated to me, but I guess that’s why they’re the pros and I’m just sittin’ here talkin’ about it.
But you know, golf is golf. It don’t matter how fancy your sticks are, or how many wedges you got in your bag. What matters is hittin’ that little ball straight and gettin’ it in the hole. That’s the whole darn point, ain’t it?
And let me tell you somethin’ else, these pros, they practice a lot. Hours and hours, they’re out there hittin’ them balls. It ain’t just luck, you know. It’s hard work and dedication, that’s what it is. So, next time you see Blaine Morikawa on TV, swingin’ that club like a pro, just remember all the hard work he put in to get there. And all them fancy sticks in his bag, well, they just help him along the way, I suppose.
