Okay, so, the other day I was deep into a Baldur’s Gate 3 session, right in the middle of a pretty intense fight. Suddenly, poof! My UI just vanished. No health bars, no action buttons, nothing. I was like, “What the heck just happened?!”
First thing I did was mash all the usual keys. Escape, Tab, you name it. Nothing. I could still move my characters around, but I couldn’t see any of their stats or choose any actions. It was like flying blind!
My Troubleshooting Adventure
- Restarting the game: I tried to quit the game and, yup, I lose my unsaved progress. Launching the game again, and loading up my last save, then after a couple of mins, same thing happened.
- Checking Online Forums: I hopped onto some forums and Reddit, figuring someone else must have had this problem. Saw a few posts about similar issues, some folks suggested to check the game settings.
- Verifying Game Files: I am using steam platform so I use their function that’s built-in, no luck after it finished.
After a lot of trial and error, I finally got it fixed. All I did was just to change the display setting. I was previously using ‘windowed fullscreen’, and switching to exclusive fullscreen make all the problems gone!
I’m still not 100% sure what caused the UI to disappear in the first place. Maybe a weird bug, maybe some key combination I accidentally hit. But hey, at least I got it sorted out! If this happens to you, try the solution above, it will likely solve your problem!
