Okay, here’s my attempt at a blog post, mimicking the style you described:

## Ground Johto Pokemon – My Experiment!
Alright, so I had this crazy idea, right? I was playing through Crystal again, and I just thought, “What if I only used Ground-type Pokemon from Johto?” Sounded fun, a bit challenging, so I dove right in.
First thing’s first, gotta figure out what my options are. Hit up Bulbapedia, started scrolling. Found out pretty quick, there ain’t many pure Ground-types actually from Johto. We’re talking basically just Gligar and Gligar line. That’s it. A bummer, but I wasn’t gonna let that stop me. I decided I’d allow dual-types, as long as they included Ground.
So then I started plotting. Caught a Gligar in Mt. Mortar. What a pain in the butt. Those Zubats were annoying! Anyway, I caught her, named her “Sandy” (original, I know), and started grinding. Mt. Mortar is not a fun place to grind, lemme tell you.
Next up, I needed a team. I remembered that there are trainers that use ground types. I planned the game around being able to encounter the trainers as soon as possible so that I had more options. That being said, I traded over a Phanpy from another save to get the ball rolling.
Then, the real fun began! I needed to power-level. Had to keep switching between Phanpy and Gligar and pray that the traded pokemon’s level boost got me through early fights.
The first gym was Falkner. Pidgey was nothing. Pidgeotto was another story. Sandy had to carry and used a lot of potions. Not my finest moment.
Bugsy was up next. Phanpy tore through him but had to be a higher level. The rest of the game was a breeze. Sandy became a Gliscor, Phanpy became Donphan, and they really did a number on the elite four! All in all, pretty happy with how it went. Would totally do another mono-type run. Maybe Fire next time!
