Alright, so I was messing around with some NFL stats today, and I got curious about the average weight of wide receivers. It’s not something I usually think about, but hey, data is fun, right?

Digging for Data
First, I needed to find some data. So I hit up Google. There’s ton of stuff, all kinds of websites with player stats, but I want something I could really dig into.
Cleaning It Up
I Got the dataset, that was a mess! It was a massive data. Tons of players, tons of info, but all I really cared about was the “weight” column, and making sure I only looked at “wide receivers”.
Took some doing, with basic tools, no code to get it to look perfect.
The Math Part
Once I had my clean list of wide receiver weights, I was get the answer. I totaled up all the weights and then divided by the number of wide receivers. Basic average stuff, you know?
My Findings
I was kinda surprised how much variation in weight. I calculate the data:
- Lightest:Some really light guys.
- Heaviest: Some BIG dudes.
- Average:Most of them were clustered around a certain weight.
It’s cool to see the actual numbers, I calculated it around 200 pounds. Makes you think about all the different types of players and how they use their size on the field. Anyway, that was my little data adventure for the day. Gotta love when random curiosity leads to something interesting!
