Alright, let’s talk about this fella, Andreas Athanasiou. Sounds like a mouthful, don’t it? I ain’t no fancy hockey expert, just an old woman who watches the games when I got nothin’ better to do. But I can tell ya a thing or two, ya know?
So, this Andreas guy, he plays hockey. For the Chicago Blackhawks now, I hear. They gave him a pretty penny, too. $8.5 million for two years! Can you believe that? That’s enough money to buy a whole lotta chickens and feed ’em for years!
- They say his contract is worth $8.5 million. That’s a lot of dough!
- He gets a cap hit of… uh… somethin’ somethin’ $4,250, they call it. Sounds like mumbo jumbo to me, but it must be important.
- This fella, he’s 30 years old, or thereabouts. Still young enough to skate around like a crazy goose, I guess.
- He’s a center, they say. Means he’s in the middle of all the action, I reckon. Like the rooster in the hen house, always struttin’ around.
Now, I don’t know all them fancy hockey terms. “Cap hit” this and “roster bonus” that. It’s all Greek to me. But what I do know is this: they pay this Andreas fella a whole heap of money to play hockey. And he must be pretty good at it, or they wouldn’t be payin’ him all that cash.
They got this website, see? HockeyZonePlus or somethin’. It tells you how much all these fellas make. I looked it up, and it says they got all sorts of information about how much money these players make over their whole careers. I ain’t got no time for all that, but it’s there if you want it.
This Andreas, he used to play for the Red Wings, I think. They were talkin’ about givin’ him a new contract, but I guess that didn’t happen. Now he’s with the Blackhawks, and they seem happy to have him. He had a good season last year, even though his team wasn’t so good. Kinda like tryin’ to grow corn in a drought, you know? You do your best, but sometimes it just ain’t enough.
So, how much does he make a year? Well, if you divide that $8.5 million by two, you get… uh… a whole lot. More than I ever made milkin’ cows, that’s for sure. They also say he’s got somethin’ called “dead money” on his contract. Sounds scary, like somethin’ out of a horror movie. But I figure it just means they gotta pay him even if he ain’t playin’. Must be nice.
He shoots left, they say. And he’s 6’2″ and weighs 190 pounds. Big fella, I guess. He’s gotta be strong to skate around and bang into those other fellas all the time. It ain’t no easy job, that’s for sure. I bet he’s tired at the end of the day. I know I would be.
Anyway, that’s what I know about this Andreas Athanasiou fella. He’s a hockey player, he makes a lot of money, and he plays for the Chicago Blackhawks. He’s probably a good player, or they wouldn’t pay him all that money. And that’s all there is to it, ain’t it?
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed them chickens. They’re squawkin’ up a storm, and they ain’t gonna feed themselves, ya know.
