Okay, so, today I was checking out this NFL referee, Shawn Hochuli. You know, the guy who followed in his dad’s footsteps, Ed Hochuli? Yeah, that one. I started digging into his background, when he started, and all that jazz.
First, I found out that the dude was born on June 25, 1978. Pretty basic stuff, right? Then, I learned that he’s been a head referee in the NFL since 2018. Before that, he was doing his thing as a back judge and a field judge. It looks like he worked his way up, just like his old man. He even played college football, which I thought was kind of cool.
I also saw that he was assigned to a few games recently, like that Pittsburgh Steelers one against the Cincinnati team, and he also worked some New Orleans Saints games. Busy guy, I guess. One thing that really caught my eye was this one time he made a penalty call in German during a game in Germany! I was like, “What?” I mean, that’s pretty random, but I guess it was a nod to the fans there.

Wrapping It Up
So yeah, that’s pretty much what I got up to today while looking into Shawn Hochuli. It was interesting to find out about his career path and that whole German penalty call thing. I guess even referees have their moments, huh?
