Okay, so let’s talk about Andrei Arlovski’s nose. I’m a huge MMA fan, and Arlovski, “The Pit Bull” as they call him, is one of my favorites. I was watching a fight a while back, and I noticed his nose, it was crooked as hell.
Started digging around, you know, just curious. Turns out, the dude’s broken his nose, like, a bunch of times. The first time, I found, was way back in 2001! He was fighting this guy, Pedro Rizzo, at UFC 36, and bam, broken nose. But that wasn’t the end of it. He went on to break it a couple more times in his career, in the gym and in the octagon. I mean, the guy is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion, he’s tough as nails, but damn, that’s gotta hurt.
I saw this interview he did with Ariel Helwani in 2018 where they talked about it. Arlovski was pretty chill about it. I guess when you’re getting punched and kicked in the face for a living, a broken nose is just another day at the office. And come to think of it, broken noses are pretty common in MMA, when the bones and cartilage in the nose break from all of those punches and kicks, nasal fractures will occur.
I also saw that he had a fight with Anthony Johnson in the World Series of Fighting. That was a nasty one too, from what I read. It seemed to be a pretty suspicious situation. He just keeps going though, you know? He’s got the record for the most wins in UFC heavyweight history, 23 wins! He’s fought for a bunch of other promotions too – Strikeforce, WSOF, Affliction, EliteXC.
Here’s a thought that crossed my mind. Why doesn’t he just get it fixed? But then I realized, he’s still fighting! I saw he’s fighting Rozenstruik at UFC 244 and he even signed a new 6 fight contract! So, I guess a nose job is not a priority when you’re still in the fight game.
Anyway, Arlovski’s nose is a good reminder of how brutal this sport can be. These guys put their bodies on the line every time they step into the octagon. I’ll keep watching him, crooked nose and all. He’s a legend. He really can be called “The Pit Bull”.
- The guy is tough, but a broken nose must be painful.
- Arlovski is a legend in MMA.
- I will keep watching him fight.
My respect to him
Yeah, that’s my little deep dive into Andrei Arlovski’s nose. Hope you found it interesting.
